Is wrestling not primarily like track in that you have a few dual or tri meets but mostly larger meets and conference teams would only be required to wrestle at the one end of regular season meet right before tournament?
At any rate, I know many coaches at TC have been patiently waiting for a better conference alignment, and knowing they have a top flight AD in place I have all confidence wrestling will not be a roadblock they allow to prevent them from joining a new conference. If the new conference says they must be all in they will be all in. Soccer, football, basketball and baseball would all benefit greatly in finding a new conference. Track, Cross Country, Golf, Tennis, Wrestling, Swimming, Bowling: not as critical to have a good conference. The head to head sports it does.
|
I agree with most of this but those schools mentioned don't improve soccer for TC. They could augment their schedule by keeping Yellow Springs & Dayton Christian on their schedule but otherwise that's not a strong soccer league. At least for the boys. Milton girls have been very good the past 2-3 years in soccer.

Never a fan of Lehman. Sorry.
Not every school will have wrestling, boys tennis, golf, bowling, etc.
I am a huge fan of wrestling with a family member being a coach and many cousins participating
How can the league force all sports when not all sports are covered and then there is FL. Kinda hypocritical.
At any point this may all be for not.

No way would Brookville leave the SWBL. How about trying to lure Versailles out of the MAC ? What about Miami East, Bethel and Covington joining the SWBL if Dixie and Prebble Shawnee left ?

Id be very surprised if they're even considering leaving the MAC.

Better chance of snow in hell than Versailles leaving the MAC.

CCC Changes Coming?
No teams are joining the SWBL that aren’t south of 35.
Talk on the MAC thread is that the Redskins are a popular choice to join that conference. Parkway leaves and Ft Loramie joins?
Where does that leave this change? No Ft Loramie could be an issue for Miami East, Covington, Bethel. That makes forming a viable new conference harder.

Versailles is in the MAC until the Lord comes again.
No way they leave.
Milton, I think, is interested in a new league with Miami County schools. But will there be enough movement in other conferences to make a new Conference doable.
With no Ft Loramie who is included?

The Fort Loramie to the MAC talk started when someone said I think on this thread that they might be left out of this new league for wanting to be a football only member. I still say Riverside could be a viable choice if needed. That would leave room for Ridgedale and Crestline/Vanlue to join the NWCC.
Bethel
Covington
Miami East
Milton Union
Lehman
Troy Chrisian
Riverside
Brookville would be nice but not sure if they'd want to join. Now if Fort Loramie does join, that would be 8. Not sold on a school like Northridge because they're a D4 school that would be in a league with D7 Schools.
On another note, what about this mashup with OHC schools? This scenario is if FL would end up in the MAC.
Bethel
Covington
Fairbanks
Mechanicsburg
Miami East
Milton Union
Triad
Troy Christian
West Jefferson
West Liberty Salem

That travel for Milton would be worse than the SWBL. WEST Jeff and Fairbanks would be over an hour away.
Not likely that Milton agrees to that one.
Remember, Milton is just a couple of miles north of Englewood.
Riverside is at least an hour. I would love to see Milton kids playing against Ft Loramie kids.

I'm not sure Anna or FL would want to do it, or if the MAC and SCAL would want to play along. But they technically should be able to be in both.
Football, someone else would need to be added or taken away to get back to a even number.
But for every other sport the SCAL plays each other twice(12), and the MAC plays each other once(10 w/Nk). So they wouldn't have any OOC games, but with those teams and those gates I wouldn't want to play any OOC games.

Adding Preble Shawnee and New Lebanon Dixie really make a lot of sense for all involved (along with the 10 schools leaving the CCC).

Read that Bradford Board of Education voted 4-0 to keep athletics with the other 9 schools pulling out of the CCC. MAKES THEM THE FIRST SCHOOL OF THE TEN TO OFFICIALLY JOIN A CONFERENCE TO BE NAMED LATER. Voting to join something that isn't actually there yet? Not sure I get the purpose of such a move.

My guess is that they needed it to officially sign their request for leaving the conference. Bradford probably was just the first to have their board meeting this month. Wouldn't be surprised if the rest follow with their boards this month.

Is there any more news on what is going on? I have heard Milton, Covington, Miami East, Bethel, Troy Christian, Sidney Lehman, Northridge, and Ft Loramie.

Besides Bradford voting to leave with the other schools, I've not heard any news on this in quite a while. I'm hoping we should start hearing more in the next week or two, as schools make final decisions.

From what I have heard friends say there is a special Board of Control meeting this week in the CCC so that the schools leaving the league can file their official paperwork. At that point in time there may then be more information released about the two new leagues.

IF Fort Loramie doesn't join in all sports, don't be shocked when they get passed up for DeGraff Riverside.

8 of the 10 schools leaving have actually set in motion by sending a letter to the league that they are leaving, 2 have not done that yet. Maybe 2 schools are having regrets.

Just a note, Dayton Christian has joined a restructured MIAMI VALLEY CONFERENCE. They would be unavailable for a new conference. Does anyone know if that was for football only?
