Looks like a pretty lopsided week so far in the picks. I wonder how many times a 3-0 team played an 0-3 team and they were significant underdogs like Tallmadge against Aurora...

I wouldn't write Aurora off just yet, three GOOD non conference teams, now they're in a hole but with that staff they can get out of it.

Aurora (0-3) over Tallmadge (3-0) - Aurora gets their first W by 28 points.
Highland (3-0) over Kent Roosevelt (1-2) - Highland names their score then surpasses it.
Barberton (3-0) over Revere (2-1) - Barberton watches Highland score and exceeds it by 1TD.
Bedford (3-0) over Copley (2-1) - only semi close game. Bedford wins by 2TDs. One comes in the last 3 minutes to secure the win.

Voted Tallmadge but I think Aurora actually pulls off a close win. A shame Aurora played a silly OOC schedule. Harbin math is so easy. So many superior scheduling alternatives.

I think Aurora wins fairly easily, but it is odd to see an undefeated team that is #1 in their region not being given a chance against a winless team. Is this based on past years? Or SOS this year? I mean Tallmadge has done something right to be 3-0 and have enough points to be #1. I'll be rooting hard for Tallmadge, but I still haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet.

According to this poll, as of this morning 38.1% think Tallmadge will win. Since Aurora joined the SLA, they are 2-0 vs Tallmadge with a combined score of 94-0. That likely has something to do with it.

Aurora is a really good team, just difficult scheduling. While Tallmadge has improved, they're not ready to compete with the top Sub American league teams. I'd be surprised if Aurora doesn't win by 3+ touchdowns.

That makes a lot of sense looking at their schedule.

Let's look at the Tallmadge, Aurora argument.

Aurora has lost to Solon by 1, Euclid by 6, and Twinsburg in OT. How would Tallmadge have done against these three teams? 0-3 with none of the games being close.

Tallmadge has won against Ravenna by 8, Ellet by 24, and Coventry by 1. How would Aurora have done against these three teams? 3-0 with a running clock in all of them.

Records are great but the competition isn't even close to being the same.

Agreed 100%. Aurora will get a boat load of points week 10 after beating Mifflin. It won't be enough.

Exactly.

Aurora lost three VERY close games. Were they all winnable? Yes. They were also all "losable" games. Most people figured Aurora could lose any single one of them heading into this season. Unfortunately, Aurora lost each of them. Aurora was unlucky to lose all three of those games. "Unlucky" being the key word. If you're saying Aurora isn't any good because they are 0-3, you don't know what you're talking about.

If Aurora was 3-0, they would be ahead of a 3-0 Tallmadge in the Harbins but not by some crazy amount of points. Winning against a good schedule gives you marginal benefits (at best) but in doing so you open yourself up to a whole lot of "Harbin risk."

Playing a tough OOC schedule isn't worth the risk of missing the playoffs. The SLA is good enough that good teams won't be hurting for L2 Harbins if they just get just an average amount of L1 points in OOC play.

If Aurora can finish 6-4 they will easily make the playoffs. I think that will get them a seed around number 5 if they go 7-3 they will get a home game. That will be thanks to the good OOC records of the Suburban league and Mifflin (17-4) And your conclusions about the risk of an OOC schedule is important for getting into the playoffs. However Aurora finds it more important to have that tough game experience when they GET to the playoffs and want to advance. That is what most successful schools value more.

Exactly. In Division 3, I mentioned a few weeks back, Aurora could get in at 6-4. In fact, they would probably qualify at 5-5 if they won 2-3 games vs barberton, Highland, and Mifflin. They'll beat up on Tallmadge tonight.

Can Kent Roosevelt "shock the world" tonight against Highland? Usually at least one hometown fan will pick their team to win in games like this...
