East at Dover

Huge game for both teams, last year Dover almost let a 28-12 lead slip away before winning 28-20.
Dover will need to play better than they have to date to win, especially without Hess. The next 3 weeks are all huge games.

East has got this, especially with Dover missing their best player. The smackdown they put on Hoover was brutal. It's not reflected in the final score. 216 to 14 yards at halftime, and 442 to 62 in the 4th quarter before a broken play and a recovered onside kick. The Dragons are for real. Time to shake this idea that they "have athletes but not a team." I'm expecting them to be 8-2 at worst, more likely 9-1.

Dover is good ,but they arent back as they proclaimed 2 weeks back.I think Dover is better than Hoover and probably Jackson. So they do have a shot, but we will see.Losing their receiver doesn't help matters.

A doormat for years is now a pretty solid team.... they just smacked Hoover around & I think Hoover has a few more players and a better team than Dover does.

Dover has won two tough games in spite of themselves. This week they cut the turnovers, and win another tough one. If the stripes call holding, east offensive line is in trouble. Watch the Hoover replay. Home field and crowd will help the Tornadoes. As far as Hess, You can't hang your hat on one player. Non factor in my opinion, everyone has injured players. Key is how everyone else responds without him. Good Luck to both teams, I hope there will be a rematch week 11 or 12. GO Dover

Hoover and Dover are probably about the same.Dover actually plays alittle defense which is why they probably would beat Hoover.Hoover has been bad the last 5 yrs and beating 2 bad teams so far doesn't make them good.

I agree that Dover is better than Hoover. Hoover had a bum hire in Brian Baum. Same QB for 3 years and they managed a grand total of 14 yards at halftime. That's on the coach, 100%, because North Canton does have players this year. Dover has a shot because of their passing game, but fully expect to not be able to run the ball at all against East, and be prepared for a high scoring affair -- East's RBs are not going to be denied if Wooster could top 200 yards rushing against the Tornadoes.

We'll agree to disagree about Jackson. The Bears will enjoy East's L2 points.

They are in different regions so there won't be a rematch. East won't win region 9 and Dover won't be a factor in region 11.

I will be surprised if East doesn't win this game. D1 athletes all over the field for East. Dover wins not very impressive yet. Lake is way down this year and should've beat Dover. If Dover can beat East and Big Red then they are for real.

Dover needs much improvement over last Friday and needs Hess. With that said, has everyone forgotten that a worse Dover team beat East last year? What has changed for East this year?

GO DOVER!

East returns most if not all of that massive line and they picked up some transfers. Dover needs to stop beating Dover,we can play much smarter than we have.

Don't know much about East's transfers. Agree that this Friday's game will be all about Dover playing up to their potential.

Sorry. Forgot Dover got moved to Columbus region. I think this one comes down to the least mistakes and the best coaching during the halftime break. Adjustments could make the difference. Ifft may have an edge there. And that my friends is why they play the game.

Watching East last year was a lot of fun, but with their graduation losses, I thought they might be a 1 hit wonder. From what I've seen and read this season, it looks like this bunch is for real. Glad to see a new face making noise, out of the ACS. Best of luck guys and more power to ya ! Go Orient... Er a Dragons !

Lake should have beat Dover? Dover turns ball over 3 times in first half!! Dover could have won by 14-21 points.. be lucky it was that close

Hess out hurts bad don't care what anyone says. Best player on team by far. Can't replace a player with that type of speed..

East wins by 17 I'd say 7 if Hess played.. till Dover can stop a Rb and not allowed 200-300 yards rushing on them I'm not sold on the D.. and the coaching staff needs to know not to call a pass play when trying to run the clock out like they did Vs lake. Dumb play calling could have cost them..

East wins by 40...Even if East wins out is there enough points to keep them in playoff? If they drop to 8 Id hate to be the #1 seed to play them.

East 2017 Football (2-1) 8/25 A Jackson (2-1) [1:1] L 34-41
9/1 A Springfield (2-1) [3:9] W 60-6
9/8 A Hoover (2-1) [2:7] W 27-20
9/15 A Dover (3-0) [3:11]
9/23 A Kenmore-Garfield (0-3) [2:5]
9/29 A Firestone (0-3) [2:5]
10/7 A Ellet (1-2) [2:5]
10/13 H North (0-3) [3:9]

I think it will be fairly close if and only if dover can stop Collier and Boyed they may pull this one out, but i still think East wins this 35-21.

East Needs this this win they might not get in at 8-2 this yr but if East wins agaist Dover they should go 9-1 and be a 5th or 6th seed, Dover will win 7 to 8 games Buchtel will win 5-6 and Howland should win 5 to 6 games as well and Hoover will win 6 to 7 while springfield should win around 5 to 6

IMO, Dover is more like Jackson, being that, this year, Jackson moved to the spread offense. Hoover and East are both mainly rushing teams. No doubt, the Dover D will certainly have their hands full with Collier and Floyd, not to mention keeping an eye on Hall, Brimage, and Williams. If Dover's D doesn't get the job done, it will be all up to Dover's offense to play smart and to execute. I say, go for broke and pull out every trick play you got. Just keep putting points on the board. Do it quickly to create confusion for the defense and to avoid the size of Fields and the athleticism of Kelly, Collier, and Floyd.

I know that's easier said than done, considering Dover's without Hess, who is their best player.

However, intelligence, competitiveness, and tradition could be the winning combination for Dover. In 2012, Dover's team was not the most athletic, but, by utilizing the above strategy, they made it to the state semifinals. Dover's coaches and Sayre will have to use their brains to outsmart the defense, especially with East because there are so many good athletes. Sayre will have to see the whole field and the skill players will need to execute perfectly -- no turnovers!

GO DOVER!

I think they can. I wouldn't be quaking my cleats over SVSM beating Buchtel by a touchdown.

They absolutely can win the region but depth could be an issue for East. I counted about 35 to 40 kids total on their sideline and it seems like only 15 to 18 actually play. Just using the eyeball test there is a significant drop in talent if a starter goes down. If they can somehow keep the O Line and the two RBs healthy they have a shot against anyone in the region.

Funny going into this game last year Dover was criticized for playing a weak inter city opponent, after Dover won the criticism continued because they only won by 8. We said East was a pretty darn good football team and we were criticized for that.
Now Dover is as much as a 40 point underdog and expected to get blown out by the inter city power.

They weren't that good of a team last year. They lost to New Philly playing a freshman QB who then got a running clock put on them by Hoban the next week.

I realize you want them to be good since they almost beat Jackson but you need to pump the brakes a little bit. I won't argue whether they can or can't beat StV but we could find out if they both make the playoffs. Also, Buchtel will give them a game as well and if they had any kind of offense I would say Buchtel could beat them.

I bet Dover will put up more yards than Akron has had heroin overdoses this year... and that's a lot.
