This Shows How Pathetic Our Priorities Are

Maybe I am missing something here.....

Are teachers salaries being increased????

These people have some serious mental issues.

Sykotyk will become famous soon enough
First, Katy is a very wealthy suburb. They have SEVEN high schools that will share the field. This was a small town before Houston grew up into and around it.

Not a surprise. You're not building a big stadium that has to have the facilities to handle seven teams sharing it. That's not an easy task. It's going to be in use probably 2-5 times a week for varsity games alone.

I don't see an issue with this as long as they build a stadium that's structurally sound unlike the one recently built in Allen. Building this centralized facility makes more sense than building/maintaining facilities for seven schools, IMO.

As has already been stated, Katy has 7 high schools in the school district. They already have one stadium (Rhodes Stadium) that seats almost 10,000.

It gets used Thursday, Friday and Saturday every week during football season by varsity teams. The JV teams have to find other places to play. The new 12,000 seat stadium will be built very near the current stadium.

They need the stadium and they need the capacity. Many of the top programs in Texas can fill a 12,000 seat stadiums frequently. Katy HS is one of the top football programs in Texas and in the nation.

My school has a stadium that seats about 12,600 and it was filled several times this year and the home side is always 90%+ full. http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=229

These stadiums wouldn't be built if they weren't needed.

I believe that was built by Joe Montana and his scab labor, almost lost one of his private jets over the deal. Sorry , didn't realize this was a national board, Joe Montana is the Yappi name of a guy that claims to be rich and hates unions and teachers.

VOTERS APPROVED
This is something that the community decided that they want/need.
No sweat off anyones back that didnt (or couldnt) vote on it.
I would love to work for a community that supports the school system like this. I know plenty of fields & gyms that need a good bit of work and the school systems are just trying to get by bc they have to. Let's not live under a rock either, we know that good sports programs attract families to live in the district. Im sure this will bring some more tax paying families into town.

Trust me, as a GB regular, I am intimately acquainted with Joe Montana. It's all a schtick but he can be funny.
