In other words you couldn't think of one other than it being a typical Triv d-bag move.

A lot of coaches will use their timeouts because they don't want to quit on the team in a losing situation

Can give instruction to certain players. Can show your team you won't give up no matter what.

Happens plenty of times. You never know if a snap can go bad and such too. Why not give it a shot?

I thought that was self explanatory so yeah I brushed it off. Then again when it comes to being a dbag , you're an expert

Certainly not classless like late hits

So yeah while I didn't like a few cheap shots, I wouldn't have said anything had this miserable iggy guy not come at triv yet again with bs

Speaking of Mentor vs. Ignatius, Tim McVey (who should have been given the ball for the winning 2 point conversion in the legendary playoff game except for Kyle being chicken) had 175 yards of offense and a TD in today's Air Force win.

I'm with MG2002 on the timeouts - nothing classless about taking your timeouts down 10 points. Triv has rubbed me wrong many times (despite that, I respect him and his staff), but this isn't one of those times.

Did you really wonder about the cost?

How many orthopaedic surgeons are on the sideline for a typical Varsity game? 5? more? All unpaid, I'd bet. Dr Hritz has been down there since before Kyle was coach.

I'm sure the new setup was of no cost to the team.

What does the number of doctors (which every team has volunteering For varsity games) have to do with the cost of a sideline medical tent?

To repeat: The tent was a GIFT from an alum who runs the company that manufactures them. It cost the school nothing.

Yeah, a bit surprised they wouldn't have more good incoming freshman the year after a state title appearance. They looked completely outclassed against Hoban.

I didn't see last year's game, but remember the questions about the officiating. While certainly teams change year to year, this result suggests perhaps the Wildcats might've fared better on a neutral field.

While there were a few questionable calls in last year's game, I think the bigger factor was the Cats' 5 turnovers.

I think Elder is much better than what they showed last night and The Pit can be tough on road teams. That said...

St. Ignatius 35
Elder 34

I'd definitely expect a better version of the Panthers down in the Pit, but still don't see any way they beat Ignatius. Maybe getting their RB Mazza back will help, but I just didn't see a team with the type of play-makers that are going to be a problem for Ignatius' back seven on defense. And on the other side, the Ignatius receiving corp should give Elder fits.

I'll be interested to see who gets the nod at QB. Alexander's extra velocity on short and intermediate throws opened up the passing game, and the touchdown pass to Snyder was a beautiful ball. Floaty passes to the sideline on Restifo's favored bench routes always scare the hell out of me. But I thought Hall played well overall through the first 3 games against some pretty athletic defenses.

And Mr. Floyd, with his speed and power could be very valuable against Elder.

Certainly. Floyd has been electric when he gets into the game. His long touchdown run Friday night was a thing of beauty. Perhaps most importantly, he looks to play with a lot of enthusiasm that is contagious to the rest of the team.

Does anyone know if any of the many varsity roster sophomores are getting playing time?

I think I saw the tight end for a few plays against Euclid.

Daugstrup has played a fair amount at tight end in multiple games, and Cmiel returned a couple kickoffs against DCC. I don't think any of the other sophs have played much.

Looks like the Eagles won the inaugural Reserve game (officially a junior varsity contest) 24-7. Not sure how much this points to a depth advantage for St. Edward.

Eddie Dwyer reported this morning that Kyle announced Daniel Alexander as starting QB against Elder. Overall, both Alexander and Hall have played well this year. As you noted, it will be interesting to see how this plays out for the balance of the season. Perhaps both will get substantial playing time, depending on the opponent and the game situation

I was on the 2001 team that lost a Saturday afternoon game in the Pit. Relative to any other game I've ever played in any sport, the venue had a hand in that result. Good luck to the Cats today.
