How short was the Portage County Fairgrounds course?

It appears to have been significantly short of a 5k.

My guess would be close to a minute for the top girls and probably at least 38-45 seconds for top guys. It is a fast course if dry and temps were perfect on Saturday, but was still only probably 3.0 miles. The kids who I looked at, who will be in our District, were all a minute+ faster than they have been anywhere else.

Id say it was closer to a minute and a half to two minutes too fast. Or 400-600 meters short. Coventry's top 3 runners have been running pretty consistent times all season in the low 18's. Well, 17:50's for Ben. I think all three of them ran faster then 16:45 here, with Ben running a 16:11. PTC course is always fast. But I don't think the course as it stood last year has 3 of this years comets running even in the 17:00's.

45 sec to 60 sec from what I see. No way 1:30 - 2:00

I thought maybe it was just a timing error. Everyone looked to be 1:00 faster than I would expect on flattish fairgrounds style layout.

Eh...regardless, times don't matter so much. We beat Field and Springfield. If we beat springfield next Saturday, we should be a lock for regional representation. We only had a minute separation between our 1 and 5. We improved our depth somewhat in the middle of our pack. We have young prospects in our middle school. I think we made progress this season. Not as much as I would have liked, but when is it ever enough for me? Go comets. Onward to Glen Oak.

Start had to be moved. The race track was a muddy mess and from what I was told, No one would have spikes left on their feet had they tried to run through it.

One of Mogadore's coaches' spouse measured it with their GPS watch, it was 2.9 miles rather than 3.1.

The start and finish had to be moved due to the overnight rain causing the original start/finish be a total mud pit.

So take all the times and multiply by 3.1 and then divide by 2.9 if you "assume" the runners would have kept the same pace.

Looking at the boys NE District meets, the PTC should get quite a few teams through to the Regional. I know CoventryTrackXClmnop; Thinks beating Springfield is the key, but what other teams there shouldn't Coventry beat besides $V$M?

Woodridge, Cloverleaf, Coventry, Springfield, Field, and Garfield should all make it through. And, and I can't even believe I'm thinking this, Streetsboro could do something if their #1 runs. He didn't at the league meet. Don't follow them enough to know why.

If Coventry beats Springfield, we will in all likelihood take 3rd. SVSM is indeed out of the question. However Tuslaw is probably too much for us to take on as well. Tuslaw is not the team they were in the past. Our 4 ran with their 4 at the Tuslaw Invitational. And our 5 beat theirs by 25 seconds. Our 6 and 7 may even be capable of beating their 5. However, their top 3 runners packs such a punch up front which Coventry really cant match.
