Last year Gracie could but she should be 10+ seconds back at the state meet if not more.

Bucher has not 'hung' with Ewert this year. Ewert has raced her 4 times this year and the margin of victory is over 20 seconds.

The state runner up last year was Olivia Howell from Solon. What about her?

I'm an idiot. Forgot about Howell. Of course, she'll be right there. That's going to be a great race up front.

Top 6-8 teams are solid without a great team....I think the winner will have more than 125 points. Medina will be in the top 5. I think Ewert probably wins easily, but Howell can surprise - both good and bad.

What do you consider a great team? I think from the order OVTC has them listed above, teams 6-11 are REALLY good teams and the top 5 all have the potential to be called GREAT. None stands out because they are all so good. It seems like just a few years ago that two girls under 19, two near 19, and a mid 19 was almost a lock to be in the hunt for state. Now you have to go pretty deep to find a team that doesn't have that potential based on best times.

No doubt....girls distance running has taken a huge leap the last 10 years or so...I see a great team as one who can score under 100 points even in a 20 team field like the Hudson boys last year. I don't think that will happen in the girls race. Could any of 5 or 6 teams in this years race beat state champion teams from 20 years ago? Sure - so they would be great back then. Maybe one or two teams prove me wrong Saturday. Believe me, I think this field is strong team wise and individually. It is rare that 5 or 6 teams have a real chance to win.

So you view great only in comparison to the competition. I try to see it in regard to the sport. Maybe 5 or 6 have a chance to win because they are all average or all great. I think it is the latter in this year in D1 girls. What if three of those teams go on to qualify for NXC? Would you reconsider what is great? In my opinion, you are not any more right or wrong than me, just a different way of viewing it.

100% agree. Medina raced Centerville and Beavercreek at Trinity Louisville meet. Medina has a solid #1 and then their top 5 are with Centerville's #5.

Medina will need a #2 ,#3 and #4 runner to break into the top 5 teams. They will need 3 under 19:00 minutes to be competitive and be top 5. They don't have the times posted at the other top 5 teams but they were competitive 1 month:
Trinity
76 Centerville
87 Beavercreek
100 Medina
