Wells out at Middletown?

Just now heard from a current Middie player that Chris Wells is out as the Middies coach. Can anyone confirm?

I hope not. Good guy, and his team was better than the record reflected. (I'm under no illusions that that means anything to most, but I still think so.)

That's what I heard from more than one source today.

Sad to see this. 2 years is all you give a coach.

Candidates: Crouch-Mt. Healthy, Rodney Roberts - Centerville, Joe Snively - Fenwick, Scott Killen - Wilmington, Mo Douglas - Springfield, Bill Jewell-former Carlisle. Just rambling off some names, I think this position could cast a wide net not just within the state of Ohio.

From what I'm hearing his departure has little to do with actual football issues, and hearing he resigned, not terminated. Still trying to confirm.

I would hope this isn't true. I will find out before saying much...but Middletown is a dying town where good coaches go to die. So I wouldn't be surprised if the natives haven't gotten so restless that they've ran off one of their own...after 2 years.

It's true and from what I'm hearin is that a certain someone wants to be back in the purple and white. Wells is a good guy but he is far from the right fit for Middletown. This was a smart decision.

It is true. I just lost whatever respect I had left for Middletown. You reap what you sow Middie-nation.

Uh cant see that happening. New field, top notch facilities, and a position in the school he wanted. In 5 to 10 years Middletown will probably be in D2. That move would make no sense.

Uh, what I am hearing (and it is from someone who is in the know) Wells has done some things that have caused this that has nothing to do with the Middies on field performance. So maybe it is a case of someone bringing this on themselves.

Well obviously I hope you're wrong as coach Krause has done an amazing job in turning the Fairfield program around. He does still seem pretty engaged with FF football by reading his Twitter:

https://twitter.com/fairfieldfb

I like the part of how 97 kids showed up for the lifting competition and I'm hearing winter strength & conditioning workouts are going great.

Like Hoser said it would be odd timing given the new facilities. Also, it looks like FF will have a couple of all Americans the next couple of years in juniors to be Jack Carmen (OT) & Malik Vann (DT), both of whom have been getting a load of major D1 offers.

I always figured the Indians would lose him to a college program but I would be a little surprised if another high school could get him to leave.

Well I highly doubt its true, more wishful thinking on the part of some Middie faithful. The gig he has at FF is far more lucrative than anything the Middies could throw at him...I would think. If he wants to repeat his success from the past he better bring ole Jalin Marshall with him as well

So the AD/head fball coach is that much of a step down financially at Middieville?

You guys are freakin dreamin if you think Krause is coming. Middletown is not a job coaches are clamoring to get at. It's a shame because it use to be but it's far from it now.

Why would there be a search outside of Ohio?

How do you figure? Is it going to pay more then his 75K salary now plus his 10K+ coaching stipend? The dude has it made at Fairfield--winning program, all new facilities, stud athletes. He's not going anywhere.

Because 5 years ago there was coaches from outside ohio who applied. I know we are talking about a much different program now but there is coach from Georgia who applied for the valley view job.

This is comin from people that are really close to Krause and let's be honest, Fairfields new facilities don't compare to Barnitz at all. Like I said it's just the word on the street but don't you find it funny he shows his face at Middletown events a lot?

Did you see a list or something? How do you know who applied for that job?
