Just curious, how many games has SJJ played on that court this year?

I know, I know, SJJ is so freaking good they don't need home court advantage over a team that has never seen the likes of SJJ before, but I'm just curious.

The no call was absurd. Literally grabbed from behind after beating his man while driving to the basket.

As an impartial observer, I just watched the play on Twitter. If I were Elyria, I'd be pretty unhappy.

The no call was terrible. The 2 three's that Antonio Blanton hit in the last minute from 30 feet were unreal. Tough break but SJJ was really not that impressive. Vincent Williams was good [not better than Naz] and 24 was shooting his brains out. Not sure who is not their league but they didn't look 24-2. Maybe Elyria just played them well. Great game anyway. Best I've seen in a few years.

Much respect to SJJ. They won and if the call was reversed they would be saying the same thing.

How much time was left in the game when the incident happened?

Kinda looked like #4 got beat off the dribble and just kneed the Elyria player in the azz as he was going up. Pretty lame swallow of the whistle by the stripes.

He knocked him over ... out of bounds. More than just incidental contact. I hate when officials swallow their whistles at the ends of games.

It was their 3rd consecutive game tab Toledo. Would like to see the broadcast angle for the final play. It looks to me like Blanton got the ball knocked out of his hand then slowed down and fell to the floor. That video is not good quality though...

'Defense' on the final drive is a bit "better quality" in this stories lead photo.

Great picture, that was a foul. Those weren't refs from the area so I don't think it can be chalked up to home cookin.

Outrageous that 3 of the "best" in Ohio could look themselves in the mirror after "letting the kids decide the game" by swallowing their whistles! And there is NO checks and balances in place; they'll get a state game next week as a reward for their "competence" and loyalty while is coach is left to explain to his kids that while they got screwed, "that's life!"

Cut to about the 1:43 mark and you will see the "no foul":

You can see the defender's upper body actually pull back as he pulled Antonio down.

There were also over 31 minutes of other game action that went into deciding the outcome, thats sports, sometimes youre flush and sometimes youre bust. Complaining about it afterward is just as poor if not worse as the judgement of the official to not blow a whistle in a sure foul situation. Set an example for kids and move on the best way you can.

The officials doing regional games are there for a reason. The best ref in NW Ohio was watching a game last night in BG. Not sure how they get selected. Im positive the refs will be able to look themselves in the mirror. No official Ive ever met or worked with has intentionally boned a team.

Clearly the pic shows a foul. What it doesn't show is the ensuing hip check that sends the Elyria player sprawling out of bounds. That is what some of the videos seem to show.

I love officials who don't want their whistles to decide the game, but they end up deciding the game by swallowing them. Infuriating. I've seen it countless times.

You're right. The officials will quickly forget this. Those kids, those coaches, that community will remember it for the rest of their lives. They will still be talking about it at their 40 year reunion.

I think you would be surprised. I watched a replay of a baseball game I umpired roughly 7 years ago, a couple days after the game. I missed a pitch that I thought was a little to inside in the bottom of 7th in a 2-2 count. I was defintely wrong. Next pitch was a walkoff single. Ill never forget it. Congratulate the team that won, move on. Sour grapes never changed the outcome of a game

As an impartial observer I can see the no call there. I believe they should have called it but I can understand why they did not.

I can also go throughout the game and find still shots that look AWFUL but when watched in real time are not fouls.

Sour grapes? Really? That's pretty simplistic for kids that have spent their life preparing this.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not from Elyria and haven't even seen them play this year. It just pains me to see this. It's bad enough that SJJ had just played two games on that floor (and that is a huge advantage), and they also have the private school advantage, now they get the call at the end of the game too? And please, I'm not making this another public/private debate, but it will take an Elyria how many years to get to the regionals again? That's a much different question than when posed to a private school. So when a public school has that one dream season like this....
