What's the story behind Chillicothe Southeastern? From 5 wins in the regular season to a regional appearance? Did they play the best teams in the state 17 times or something?

They have just began to play well and have resulted in 4 wins in the tournament. They were not missing players or anything of that nature during the regular season. Its just one of those runs you see every 5 or so years by a team that has a poor regular season.

Hiland isn't the favorite in their region (I'm saying this as a Hiland fan). Fairland beat Garaway by about 30 when they played them in the regular season and they only have one loss. Hiland lost to Garaway both times.

Have not seen them all, but Roger Bacon is pretty sound . They are a bit quicker than Summit but that game could be a toss up.

The Bacon team reminded me somewhat of 2013 VASJ.

Didn't VASJ have more height than this Roger Bacon team? RB does have some good height though. VASJ had Demonte Flannigan, Carlton Bragg, and Derek Pardon.

I work with somebody that's plugged in at Garaway.

He says between guys returning from football, and 2 games close to each other, they had no focus or energy for the first Fairland game. We will find out Wednesday.

Fairland should be the favorite in the D3 Athens regional, with Hiland being the strongest contender. That Kettering regional in D3 looks really strong, and I wouldn't be surprised if the state champion comes from there......but don't count out VASJ. If they make the state, they will break a tie with Portsmouth for the 2nd most appearances all time which currently stands at 15.

You are correct, they did have more height, and better collectively at the 4 and 5 spots. Bacon point guard is equal in my opinion and 2 and the 3 spots are little stronger. They do have two big men with one (Johnson I think is his name) close to the abilities of Bragg who was a sophomore in 2013.

Region 11 is by far the weakest. Hiland is better off being in this region than the DIV regional in canton. Does anyone know why there isn't a team from the Columbus area feeding into this region? Would make it a little bit more competitive

Summit is probably better than Bacon this year but that is why you play em. Bacon may overall be quicker but wont have anyone who is as quick as Sam Martin. He was his league player of the year and the DIII SW district player of the year. They also have some height, starting lineup goes 6-5, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 and Martin at 5-10.

To think any team in the D4 Canton Region is as good as Fairland is a joke.

Hiland beat Malvern twice and Malvern took Lutheran East to overtime last night.

I think Hiland would win the Canton Region, while i don't think they will beat Fairland.

35-32 Summit won. WC played a ton of four corners and every time Summit's PG Sam Martin got the ball they doubled him. Every single time and Summit didn't do a good job attacking. Summit also missed a ton of easy shots.

Martin beat the double team and hit an unreal layup with 14 seconds left to put them up 33-32. WC then travelled and Summit hit both free throws and WC missed half court three.

Joe's. 87-47 over Garfield. JV team played the whole 4th quarter against the Garretsville starters and increased the lead - and this team beat the AP #1 LeBrae.

Can't argue with this.

I'm sure it is some kind of nightmare to balance the divisions and decide where to assign teams. There's going to be some problems with that human endeavor. What if Garaway had won last night? We would have had 2 teams next door to each other in the NE part of the state driving 3 hours to the SE part of the state to play each other. Makes little sense.

I think you play where you have been assigned, and play whoever is put in front of you, and see what you earn in that context.

I think Hiland can definitely beat Fairland, but if there was money on the line, or the proverbial house, you have to go with Fairland, but I don't think it is any kind of major mismatch.

That is why the AP is a joke anymore. You can't just look at records. You have to go see the teams play and look at strength of schedule. I am sure Labrae is good, you have to be to win that many games even against a mediocre schedule, but #1, I think not.

No disrespect intended, but STA would have walked all over Garrettsville too. Northwestern is a good team, but will have a hard time with VASJ.

Hiland would not beat VASJ, I am pretty certain of that. And if NW stays within 20 of VASJ I will be surprised.
