By the way, the Civil War was all about one thing, slavery. States rights was just some BS excuse so that some very rich folks could maintain a free labor force.
And some very rich to the north that didn't like to compete with free labor. Some New England States threatened to leave the Union during the War of 1812, and look up the Nullification Crisis. Leaving the Union when the Federal government committed over reach was pretty common back then. Lobbyists then as now ruled the government, and it was as usual about money. As were the other incidents of States wanting to leave the Union.

I like to watch those War Extravaganza Movies of the 70's.

Tora, Tora, Tora
Midway
Bridge Too Far

The scope of the movies are huge and it gets confusing with all the plots and sub-plots. They have ensemble casts with some stars just doing cameos. The action scenes are unrealistic even by 1970s standards. They are also are loaded with anachronisms (why does Edward Albert have feathered bangs parted in the middle if he's a WWII pilot)

But I still like to watch them. Not sure why. Maybe just a sanitized version of the horror of war.

The Pacific was also damn good. Same style as BoB but focusing on the other front.

The Pacific isn't half as good as Band of Brothers.

Band of Brothers had a far superior cast. That's the main difference IMO.

Everyone was or became famous like it was a law or something.

I haven't watched Master and Commander in awhile, I liked that one. Even read the book, don't tell anyone.

"From Here to Eternity" TONs of actors I really like but never could stand that one.

Good call. I had big expectations after Band of Brothers, but Pacific was a big let down.

I loved cadence. However I don't know how many people on this board watched it.

I gotta give a shout out to Crimson Tide

Full Metal Jacket. I'm sure it's been listed earlier.

Is it possible that one of my favorites has been missed thus far? Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944). Doolittle Raiders' story with Spencer Tracy and the ubiquitous Van Johnson. What more can you say?
