Sbaac

Lets take a look at the teams in the SBAAC just for fun. Obviously we know Clinton Massie will do well and Wilmington will also most likely. Any other schools that would surprise us?

Tell me if I am wrong and I am new to Yappi but won't CM come in and run rough shot over everyone?

It will be competitive between Massie, Wilmington and NR. Goshen and WB are playing for fourth. The team that is in a world of trouble is Batavia. They aren't ready to compete with any of these schools. They wouldn't be favored to be in the top 3 in the small school side.

That is true, Batavia better get wins early in the year!

Don't count out New Richmond. They are one of the few SBAAC schools to win a playoff game the last decade. And they return the best athlete in the league.

if Wilmington places 2nd in the league then I'll be stunned because they suck. Their 7-3 flaws the past several years has prevented them from making the playoffs.

The best returning athlete will be Beaugard from Wilmington. Wilmington and NR battle for 2nd and with the schedule Wilmington has (Blan DV, EC DV), they better beat NR if they want any shot at the playoffs.

Thank their AD for scheduling this. I have heard that Killen and the HS principal was not happy. But Wilmington opens up with Valley View, Greenville, and Vandalia Butler so if they can win those, they should be fine.

Their out of conference schedule will be fine. If they can manage to go 8-2 on their schedule now they should be in. I'm looking at Massie's schedule and wow... they are going to have to get up about every week for their opponent. I don't doubt they can... but will that wear on a Massie team that might not be as deep as years past? We'll see.

I've heard NR might be needing a new OC with the rumor being Osbourne (Sp?) possibly leaving to do the same at Turpin.

Negative! His feet are firmly planted at NR!! The HC left but the staff stayed together when Burke was hired to take over.

Not even a chance he entertains the Turpin job? Considering he works in West Clermont?

It sounded like it was a done deal he was headed there.... but it was all rumors in the end. Heard the new coach really wanted him, too. Wonder why he didn't go?

He has a very good thing going at NR. Despite losing their HC, that staff is very good and they have some talent to make some good things happen in the next few years. Maybe he is just comfortable there and he (and others) have worked hard to get the program where it is so I can see why he would stay. It would be hard not to at least entertain the idea of going to Turpin and the ECC though.

I found that CM opens with Coldwater-that will be a tough test right out of the box.

I've only been able to find an incomplete schedule for them-mind sharing where you found your 17 schedule?

With the new divisions being posted, I'm not sure a DIII SBC school can get into the playoffs at 9-1. Region 12 will be LOADED! The DV schools have a much easier route now that Coldwater left to DVI. Massie has to like where they are sitting in their region as well.

It's all about out of conference scheduling for those D3 schools. You're right in that R12 is LOADED, but points will be there for the taking. I don't think we will see 3 SBC D3 teams in week 11 with the current situation but I think there's a chance we could see 2 depending on who they're playing early in the year. Teams like Goshen, Batavia and Western Brown need to win a few games going into league play and there will be plenty of points to earn a spot or two.

With Wilmington and Goshen both playing multiple DV/DVI schools I don't see how they have a chance. Batavia isn't going to help in the near future. WB may beat Hillsboro but that is about it for their non-conference schedule. This realignment was terrible for the big side of the SBC.

Wilmington only plays Blanchester and EC. The rest of their OOC schedule is Valley View, Greenville and Butler. You're correct that they can't lose those games and ride EC or Blan to the playoffs but a 7-3 Blanchester team has more points than a 2-8 Little Miami.

Goshen probably has the hardest road in terms of points but I wouldn't look for that to stay the same. They have ride out the contracts that were set long before these coaches got here. They had D3 Ross on the schedule but Ross backed out so the only real option for them was D5 Holy Cross (KY) unless they wanted to just skip that week. I also look for them to dump Williamsburg in the near future and put someone on the schedule who is more their size. Overall, if either of those teams go 8-2, 9-1 I would say they end up competing for a playoff spot.

I think it has to be 9-1. 8-2 Norwood didn't get in last year playing a very similar schedule. If Goshen/Wilmington/NR all beat each other I don't see any of them getting in. If any of the 3 can beat the other 2 then they should be in if they can win their non-conference games or knock off Massie.

That's all true. Norwood played a horrible schedule though... CNE, Batavia, BT and Woodward... had they beat Milford they would have been in though. The flip side is that Goshen played basically the same schedule the year before and at 7-3... they were #9 in the region and didn't beat either of their top two points cows.

I think that this league is tough and R12 is extremely tough. I think we'll consistently see Massie and 1-2 D3 teams show up week 11 depending on how things shake out.

D2 Western Brown, at 9-1, will not see the playoffs. No way they get the points

Harrison made it at 6-4... If WB was 9-1, they would have been in last year. Go 9-1 now and that means that beat 3 of the 4 (Massie, Wilmington, New Richmond, Goshen)... they would be in.

I guess they prob would make it, but its Gonna be tough to go 9-1. They went 3-7 last year, lost their starting qb to a rival school.
