NCAA D1 Qualifiers from Ohio

Here is a list of wrestlers from Ohio who have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The list will be updated as wrestlers qualify. As always, I will probably miss someone. Please let me know. If high schools are wrong, let me know about that as well. I'm going off memory/college's website.

Jose Rodriguez, Ohio State (Massillon Perry)

133:
Nathan Tomasello, Ohio State (CVCA)
Anthony Tutolo, Kent State (Lake Catholic)

141:
George DiCamillo, Virginia (St. Ignatius)
Joey Ward, North Carolina (Moeller)
Dean Heil, Oklahoma State (St. Edward)
Joshua Heil, Campbell (Brunswick)
Noah Forrider, Ohio (Marysville)

149:
Micah Jordan, Ohio State (St. Paris Graham)
Hunter Ladnier, Harvard (St. Edward)
Anthony Collica, Oklahoma State (Solon)
Nick Barber, Eastern Michigan (St. Edward)

157:
Taleb Rahmani, Pittsburgh (Marysville)
Colin Heffernan, Central Michigan (St. Edward)
Jake Faust, Duke (Lexington)
Jake Danishek, Indiana (Dayton Christian)
Casey Sparkman, Kent State (Massillon Perry)

165:
Isaac Jordan, Wisconsin (St. Paris Graham)
Andrew Mendel, Army (Moeller)
Cody Burcher, Ohio State (Claymont)

174:
Bo Jordan, Ohio State (St. Paris Graham)

184:
Michael Coleman, Navy (Hudson)
Joe Heyob, Penn (St. Xavier)
Nick Corba, Cleveland State (Beavercreek)

197:
Kollin Moore, Ohio State (Norwayne)

285:
Ty Walz, Virginia Tech (St. Edward)
Jacob Kasper, Duke (Lexington)
Billy Miller, Edinboro (Perry)
Conan Jennings, Northwestern (Centerville)

Wrestlers who wrestle for Ohio schools but did not attend HS in Ohio:
Luke Pletcher, Ohio State, 133
Myles Martin, Ohio State, 184
Kyle Snyder, Ohio State, 285
Zack Parker, Ohio, 285

Note: Matt Kolodzik (Princeton) spent one year of HS in Ohio, but transferred to Blair Academy. He qualified at 141lbs

Never heard of em

It's interesting to note 285 is the only Big 10 weight where there are less than 6 allocated spots at NCAAs (they have 5). So it's the only weight where all semifinalists aren't guaranteed a spot at nationals, unlike the other 9 weights that I have already accounted for.

No Yankee. It's just one guy. Not 'Kyle' and 'Snyder.' Just 'Kyle Snyder.'

I thinks he wrestles for OSU (No. Not Oklahoma State University) out of Maryland or somewhere out east.

That's it for the end of day 1. So far there are 23 Ohio wrestlers, with a couple more still having hopes alive in the Big 10, Big 12, and the MAC.

Surprising Cameron Kelly isn't going this year after winning a match at NCAA last year.

Anyone know what happened to Austin Reese? Wrestled in the last dual before MAC, but not in the tourney. Returning NCAAQ as well

Looks like that's it for the automatic qualifiers. 24 Ohio wrestlers, with several hoping for a wild card next week.

bucksman will become famous soon enough
I'd have to go back and research (officially), but normally Ohio high school graduates are about 30 wrestlers out of the 330 participant field, and then get to about 8-10 AA honors.

Kelly lost to Tutolo 5-2 and I heard it was not as close as the score. I guess he was dominated pretty badly. Then he lost 16-3.

Stickley/Cam Kelly at 133, Forrider at 141 are possibilities. Jake Ryan at 157- there are 7 spots open here.

Regarding the drop from CLE remember Abounader and Scheidel who are both previous qualifiers are redshiing this year so hopefully they will return and get on the podium next year.

Wow Ohio University had a terrible showing at MAC's, other than Laney at 125. Kelly and Forrider were both supposed to qualify and failed to do so. Kelly may not get an at large bid considering there are only 4 available spots for Connor Schram, Kevin Devoy, Earl Hall, Esteban Gomez-Rivera, Colby Smith, Eli Stickley, and Cameron Kelly. I think the first 3 spots will go to Schram, Devoy, and Hall and the last one will either go to Kelly or Stickley.

Don't know if Scheidel is redshirting.

As for 133, I think Devoy defaulting out will help him get a spot (didn't "actually" lose). Hall gets one, Schram gets one, and Gomez-Rivera has the H2H over Kelly and Stickley (plus a H2H win over Devoy).

Oh wow I knew Gomez-Rivera had a win over Devoy, but I did not know he also had wins over Kelly and Stickley. 2 out of his 3 loses going into EIWA's were pretty bad, and he obviously performed bad at at EiWA's but I still think that last spot should belong to him considering those H2H wins.

Cleveland State did not qualify a wrestler. Believe Corba lost to Dakota Geer in the finals of EWLs.

Another name that has a shot at a wild card- Noah Baughman. Wins over Piccininni, Terao, and Jose Rodriguez. Whoever chooses wild cards tends to value good wins over bad losses, so he would fit that category.

Actually pinned Kelly at the American-OU dual in February, and beat Stickley at the Wolfpack open back at the beginning of the season.

As of right now, none. Cheek and Corba may get at large bids (I think they have a legit chance at them)
