Harrison Head Coaching Search is on....

Anybody else have any ideas?

Final 5:
Brian Lainhart (HC, Walnut Hills)
Derek Rehage (DC, Harrison)
Gerry Beuchamp (OC, LaSalle)
Nate Mahon (HC, Little Miami)
J.D. Vonderheide (HC, Talawanda)

Dark Horse:
Justin Roden (HC, East Central, IN)

I would Love to see:
Howie Jenkins (Long-time Assistant, Harrison)

The AD is a Colerain HS Grad and will no doubt hire a "Colerain Guy". Lainhart, Rehage, and Beuchamp all have ties to the Colerain program as either a Player or Coach.

Harrison is a pretty decent gig right? Is Turpin a better one?

With all of the coaching moves should be interesting on the next one.

Pure speculation but...I don't think Mahon will even put his name in the hat. He is making admin $$ and I dont think he would want to leave that.

What's going on a at Harrison? Been hearing rumblings about the AD. Makes you wonder why a coach leaves after taking his team to playoffs 3 out of 4 years. Isn't Harrison suppose to be one of the teams contending for the swoc title?

Uh, whoever gets the job, will have 2 of the best players in the SWOC, Frankie Young on offense and Austin Silcox on defense.

I'm shocked nobody has made a play for McDonald at St X. Is he not still coaching football over there? He's by far the best available coach out there IMO. Maybe he's just not interested in moving.

I just heard a couple days ago that he left X and is now the offensive coordinator at Mason. Anyone else heard this?

He just recently left? That's big for Mason. They should promote him to HC and dump the current guy.

Harrison will need to replace their entire receiving core, which is going to make Frankie's job much harder this year. Silcox could be great but needs to be more committed in the off season to be able to compete outside of the weak conference. The new coach will have his work cut out for him..

Uh this weak conference gets 3 or 4 teams in the playoffs every year. Uh most coaches would tell you Healthy, Harrison, Northwest and Edgewood are pretty good teams year in and year out. Uh Silcox and Young are outstanding players. Young is by far the best QB coming back in this league.

If I was a betting man my money on Harrison hiring from within. It makes sense for them and is what smaller schools and leagues do. Just wish teams in the swoc would think outside the box and go bold and big.

Not saying Frankie is not the best QB in the league, he's just going to be more challenged this year with inexperience receivers. Also, silcox is very good and could be great. As for the conference, its weak. Teams that make it to the playoffs are typically knocked out in the first round. Mt Healthy is by far the most consistent program but they even struggle at their lower division level in the playoffs. For Harrison, if they beat EC, then they stand a very good chance on getting into the playoffs every year. Northwest and Edgewood have been hit or miss.

Yeah, well I believe Edgewood is rolling for the next three years and was a fourth and four away from probably winning state last year. LaSalle stomped everyone else in DII but could only manage a three point win over Edgewood.

Doesn't sound too weak to me.

It's a solid conference but still small time compared to others in the region. And your de facto Edgewood state champs take is antiquated and or old school thinking. Either way it's funny and sad.

Uh I would say "small time" is a little bit much, but whatever. The facts are SWOC is a D2 and D3 league and the schools in the league donot have the numbers to compete with the GCL south, the GMC, or the GWOC big schools. The "state champs " thing is also a little bit much but the score of the game against Lasalle is a fact. Overall I would say the SWOC is a very good small school league with 3 or 4 very solid programs .

Uh with an uneven number of members and the real possibility of losing a member or maybe two, taking the conference down to five teams. The conference better act fast.

I think its more realistic that the swoc adds a team than folding. But in these times of money and stature anything is possible. Isn't the rumor that Winton Woods will join?

The conference is going to lose a school, and may opt to stay with 6 members instead of adding Winton Woods and remaining odd with 7. But if the conference losses 2 schools and fall to 5 it will be a HUGE problem and be on the cusp of collapse. The conference better act fast and get out in front of it, if it wants to be stable.

Little Miami to take the place of Amelia in the Southern Buckeye and Talawanda to be the 8th school in the SWBL southwest division. That maybe why the Harrison coach bolted for Turpin. To me Harrison looks like the better job from the outside.

I'm guessing the AD already has his pick. When it was officially announced yesterday that the coach departed for Turpin, the announcement also stated the deadline for applicants is March 7th and the new head coach is expected to be approved at the next board meeting on March 16th.
As others have mentioned, there have been rumblings of issues with the new AD and this May of led to the decision to leave for the Turpin job.

The Southern Buckeye is set with Wilmington,Clinton Massie,East Clinton and Fayetteville coming in next year as Amelia obviously consolidates with GE and Norwood goes to the MVC. There will be 6 teams in each division. No Little Miami

He bolted because he didn't want to deal with the AD anymore. He was making close to 100K at Harrison and you cannot tell me that Turpin is going way over that. He just wanted to get out of the situation he was in.

Middletown is sniffing around the SWOC........

Not the first time the AD was mentioned as a problem and certainly not going to be the last.
