Agreed. And there are a handful of Browns QBs over the years that would have been excellent behind Dallas OL and their running game and receivers.

Heard interesting talk about the Mahomes kid from Tx Tech and his "high ceiling". Big, athletic kid with a cannon. Could be a decent option if he's there at the top of round 2.

The road to football hell is paved with old Yappi "Who should the Browns draft?" threads.

I thought it was funny. Of course he doesn't want to play in Cleveland.

Brandon Weeden did play for Dallas last year ... I don't remember him winning many games with them.

Just looked at the Fansided 3 round mock linked on si.com. They had the Browns first 3 rounds as follows:
1- Garrett
12- Trubisky
33- Teez Tabor (don't think he'll last that long)
52- Elflein
65- Justin Evans (A&M safety)

Pretty sure he would have said the same thing if the team with the number one pick was San Francisco, Chicago, the Jets, etc. He's a Texas kid. He's a Dallas fan. Of course, he wants to play for the team he has followed his whole life.

Let me ask you something, e_p: is this any different than what Bernie Kosar did when he maneuvered the supplemental draft to make sure he was chosen by Cleveland?

I don't think the whole trade down thing has worked at all for the Browns thus far, and even though it sounds cool in theory, it's not working in practice. I say keep all of the picks, and go with the best overall player on your board, regardless of position.

This team just needs to get as many good players on the roster as possible to turn this thing around, and the Browns have shown they aren't skilled enough to pick position-by-position. Even if the best player is in a position that you think is "stable" (are there any of those for the Browns?) on the roster, take him anyway.

If he pans out to be a really good player, and you have too many of them at one position, you can always trade later for the position you need more. The Browns have attempted to be a little too clever by half, and it has clearly backfired.

Can we also get some "real football guys" back in the front office, rather than guys from every other freakin' sport on the planet? The next thing you know, they're going to hire some cricket expert to be the VP of Something Or Other in the Browns front office. It seems to me that experiment has failed as well.

If the Browns are going to be the laughing stock of the NFL, let's at least do something obvious, and have football people running a football team. Is that too much to ask?

Here's to hoping someone on Yappi wins the Powerball, and buys Haslam out! Maybe there would be some hope then?

Every pick needs to start from day one, then some strong free agents and it could be a 8-8 before you know it.Some teams do it every year, what's wrong with these guys?

Huh? Every pick? Even the 5th and 6th rounders? There are teams that have done that before?

No way, they got Brandon Weeden AND Phil Taylor rather than being stuck with just Julio Jones.

Then they got Justin Gilbert AND Johnny Manziel rather than having to pick between Khalil Mack, Mike Evans, and Sammy Watkins

Let's not forget all of the studs that came from that Julio trade- in addition to Phil Taylor and Weeden, they got Greg Little, Owen Marecic and Trent Richardson (who they turned into Johnny Manziel!).

I stand corrected. The road to football hell is paved with old Browns' drafts. The old Yappi "Browns Draft" threads merely form the yellow lines.

He's Raymo, so......... BAM! He made a stupid statement.

If they decide a QB has a high enough ceiling to draft, there is no reason that he has to play this year at all.

In most cases, absolute statements are for dummies. Raymo has his moments, but that was not one of them

Trading down only works for smart people. Jury is out on this bunch, but this time next year we should have a better idea if there are any smart people here scouting and selecting players.

When did the Raiders get starters from their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round draft picks in one year?

Browns extended a second round tender to Crowell. He's had flashes, but if someone wants him for a second rounder, they can have him.

If the Browns choose not to match another team's offer, IIRC.

Yep, if they don't match, the signing team gives up a second.

They are letting another team set the market. They truly want to keep him, I think.
