I'd put a few teams ahead of Glenoak.

#5 was a pick em. With the Golden Eagles knocking off Perry tonight, they get my vote.
Who do you have @ #5?

If Central or Aquinas is the fifth best team in this county . . . oh my. I find that hard to believe. Aquinas has more talent so I would give them the nod over us (also based on head to head) but they have not looked all that strong when I have seen them, especially against Central.
Central appears to be getting its basketball legs back and has some nice wins, including Saturday night's win over previously undefeated and state-ranked St. Peter. But they are inconsistent and will continue to be inconsistent, in my opinion. They looked awful against Aquinas, took Lake to OT, lost to a rather pedestrian Ready team, beat undefeated St. Pete. Last night against Ashland, they played well and played them even for three quarters but then the pressure got to them and they lost by 15. It is up and down, up and down but that had to be expected with this group. I am actually surprised they are playing as well as they are. It doesn't get easier with games against Jackson, Hoover, Zanesville, Ursuline (who beat Lake) and Hoban on the horizon. Just hoping they keep getting better and are able to string together some tournament wins.
As for the county Top 5 . . . What about Louisville or Alliance?
I think the difficulty in picking a fifth for the Top 5 proves what an area coach said to me over the weekend: "In the county this year, you're either real good or real bad."

But Coach Hackenberg would be happy to take this ranking . . . in fact, he's likely to have his team announced as the 5th ranked team in Stark County during introductions. Not a dig but that boy loves him some stats, rankings and record books.

Perry was down 25-24 at halftime last night at Glenoak, took a 30-28 lead in the 3rd qtr then all of the sudden 4 of the 5 starters get taken out for whatever reason to watch Glenoak go on a 10-0 run. It's stuff like that that hurts teams with lessor talent even more.

Uh-oh. Somebody doesn't like Coach Spurgeon.

I may not agree entirely but that is certainly a very defensible position.

How is it defensible when they lost by over 10 points?

Because one game does not a season make.
The X factor here is Debevic's coaching. Good coaches take a loss like this and use it as catalyst for improvement.

Agree, also good coaching doesn't forget that he has a full bench to use and match up his players to take control of the game and not freeze up in pressure times...take advice and think outside of the box!

With the loss, Jackson is beatable. That was why I was questioning your post.
To have Jackson listed 1st and everybody else 2nd would have been defensible @ the start of the season. Now that they have a loss in the Federal League, the Polar Bears are no longer unanimous.

Just wanna add this small part in there guys. Mckinley can beat either one of these teams as well on any given night. neither game was a blowout actually a 5 point game with jackson with 2 min then a flagrant foul made it what it was score wise with Jackson playing lights out and 2 of Mck starters not so hot. North Canton Mckinley lead whole game until late 3rd quarter which I hate to admit but NC shot more free throws then Mck did for the game in that quarter, but they were better then Mck that night. Last year both teams beat Mck I dont see so far of a gap between the 3. Yes both are tad bit better at this time we will see round 2 best thing about the fed heck lake beat NC at their place Mckinley dominated Late tuesday so all this is fun until Tourney time boys.

It's "clueless" to think Jax could be the best team in the Fed?
Or did you just call names because I didn't pick your team? I didn't know 3rd graders posted on Yappi

You should have at least singled out Hoover since they beat Jackson double digits instead of lumping them in with everyone else! Are you sure you are not in 3rd grade?

I see your logic is stuck in about 3rd grade. You post Jackson and everyone else after Jackson lost. That means there is a team at least as good as Jackson. You admit you know Jackson lost so the statement isn't from ignorance. Must be from bias.
You didn't simply say "Jackson could be the best team in the Fed". You implied they are so much better everyone else is irrelevant. So yes you are clueless.

I'm finally a believer in Hoover. They are top 10 for sure and might be top 5.
The Fed might have two top 5 teams and McKinley maybe top 10.

Far from it. I love the way his teams play the game but he is also very much a self and program promoter in the tradition of Randy Montgomery. You can be that and a good coach, no doubt. There is good and bad that comes with that. I may not have a clue but I am certainly not a hater. Check some of my past posts about him. Joke fell flat I guess.
