Bulldog and bop et al.,

Columbiana enrollment went from 134-126. 126 will likely be an average to small division 6 school after competitive balance kicks in.

Please explain what data supports your statements that columbiana is growing, or rapidly approaching division 5, or has "room to grow"?????

Will be interesting to see who moves again when the competitive balance is figured in.

Ok what am I missing? Columbiana is down 8 students from last enrollment.
Presumably the cutoffs will become higher due to competitive balance.
How does a decreasing student enrollment along with competitive balance indicate in any way that columbiana will become a division 5 program or that they are growing?I believe it to be quite the contrary.
Columbiana will be division 6 again, and moving closer towards division 7.
The only division 5 schools will be EP and United.
Division 6 will include columbiana and southern.
Everyone else will be division 7. This does not bode well for united and EP playoff chances. Lisbon, wellsville, and Toronto will benefit due to dropping to division 7 and playing in a league with 2 division 5 schools and 2 division 6 schools. Having to play leetonia is detrimental to everyone as well.

Not that it has anything to do with either league, I was just comparing the enrollments of both the EOAC and MVAC. Not too dissimilar.

Been nice if the D5's and D6's could have gotten together, without Waterloo.

Getting closer to next Football season.
What enrollment basis will the competitive balance bring this new league?

I know off hand 2 D5's under the old format.
Columbiana was 6 away last count, but seems for whatever reason they are getting smaller.

Any thoughts?

Schedules to post?

EP has Salem, Perry and Campbell. Based on the preliminary count and last years cut offs, looks like 2 D4's and a D5 in the OOL games. United should be D5 in a league game and the rest, 6 and most D7.

Official classifications are scheduled to be released in 2 weeks (April 6th). I'd expect the only movement of the EOAC is Lisbon moving from 6 down to 7, but it's really just a shot in the dark

I think that's accurate...we should be D7 this season. There's a good chance we end up being the second smallest school in the conference.

Any idea on how good Southern is going to be this year? Do they return a decent amount? I see they scrimmage McDonald so wondering if it'll be a good gauge for the Devils (after a scrimmage with Range).

Only lost 3 starters and have around 17 current Juniors. They were pretty young last year, in terms of varsity experience. Lot of athletes and speed returning.

That's good to hear, sounds like it'll be a good team for southern the next few years. They were able to make strides to get to 4-6 last year I see. Will be a good scrimmage for both it looks like.

Final enrollment posted on OHSAA. Lisbon lost 4 from previous preliminary count.

Should be interesting when the Competitive Balance is added in.

I'm pretty confident we'll stay D7 even after competitive balance.

Lisbon fans are rock hard at the thought of getting into region 25 and getting to face teams like Windham, Jackson Milton, and Matthews in the playoffs. Might be able to actually win a playoff game if it does happen lol

Yes, but what does your open enrollment do for the Rubbles?

I guess if we have the correct number of kids to play those schools, that'd be fine. It's cool we also get to face Mogadore & JFK...not much of an advantage by any means. Though, it should be a little easier to make the playoffs in D7 than our current D6 region, which has proven to be quite competitive.

Thanks for insight as always. You truly are a great addition to the Yappi community. It's not hard to understand why you got voted most popular poster of 2016. Hope you enjoyed the fruit basket!

I am sure Crestview fans are "rock hard" about their new schedule too, Lol! It is convenient that Ringo failed to mention Magodore and JFK who are also in that region, State Championship caliber Teams. Nothing wrong with who we are playing at all, we are playing who we should be as we are now under 100 boys. I am very happy with all of this. Things are looking up for Crestview as well, their schedule has been lightened with Lisbon coming off of it this coming year.

lol Southern, Toronto, Leetonia, United, Malvern, Valley Christian, and Mineral Ridge. No doubt they will get you ready for the region 25 scrubs that make the playoffs. And believe me you're going to wish you kept Crestview and South Range on the schedule the first time you get trashed by JFK or Mogadore. But then again with your mentality you'll just be happy that you made it in and you'll have some excuse why you can't compete with either school. (Petition to get JFK and Mogadore out of region 25 on deck?)

Lisbon has been doing very well the past couple of years, and I have nothing but respect for what they have accomplished. I just can't understand why after two solid years the school and fans would be excited about stepping down the competition. You guys would rather not play teams like Crestview, South Range, and Springfield along with the better teams in D6, and instead would rather play cupcakes in the regular and postseason. For God's sake have some pride and believe in your kids abilities. You've beaten Crestview three years in a row and gave a solid St. Thomas team all they could handle. Wouldnt now be the time to try and get to the next level? Look at EP, they put a final 4 D4 school on the schedule this year...

Know nothing about the strategy being employed by the Lisbon athletic department but they don't choose what division they are in and why not be excited to be in a Division/Region where if you get a talented class you could possibly win it all (JFK). Their out of conference opponents seem pretty weak but its hard to assume they had many other options...finding games these days is difficult because it seems as though everyone wants some type of advantage.

P.S. JFK graduates about 20 seniors including the their three best offensive threats. I would still think they are good defensively but they will struggle on offense. Of course that is unless they go shopping...

They could have had another D4, but Beaver was full up. Campbell filled that spot, at least they will be D5.
Have to play loaded in the OOL, the league brings only 1 D5 and the rest are, well, geez!

Could have still been playing you Ringo, but your Super feels the need to continue to steal students and send buses into EP's district. Good luck!

Stealing? C'mon man, Crestview doesn't need to steal or even advertise. If EP took care of their own business families wouldn't be running out of that town. And Crestview certainly isn't the only district that has welcomed EP families the past decade. Matter of fact EP went hand in hand with one of the other districts that "steals" kids from them in their move to this league...

Believe me I wish EP and Crestview still played but EP has nobody to blame but themselves for letting their school system fall apart over the last decade and give people an excuse for leaving. How many administrative changes there? Not Crestview's fault at all even if they do benefit from it.

I do agree on taking care of their own business, but come on man, explain the 400+, which includes students from other districts. You have 160+ just from here, alone. How much longer will your taxpayers, both property and income tax, agree to support the schools for students that aren't their own? I see signs of it already starting to fall apart. State student funding doesn't cover building new additions or the like, your taxpayers do.
