Thanks, looks like a really solid list. Makes me want to go back and visit my metal roots. I did notice that Magical Mystery Tour is your highest rated Beatles album(and only one in the top 50), which would seem unconventional to many. Any specific reason that one pulled you in?

I was a late Beatles bloomer....

My order of how I like the albums....

Magical Mystery Tour Beatles, The
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band Beatles, The
Revolver Beatles, The
Rubber Soul (UK) Beatles, The
Abbey Road Beatles, The
Help! Beatles, The
White Album Beatles, The
A Hard Day's Night Beatles, The
Please Please Me Beatles, The
Let it Be Beatles, The
With the Beatles Beatles, The
Beatles For Sale Beatles, The

I just love that album and there is about a 5 point gap between Magical Mystery and Sgt. Pepper. The 2 thru 7 Beatles albums on my list I like basically the same but Magical Mystery just sticks out more.... I just love Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Walrus, Fool on the Hill, The titled track!!!!!

Raise 1980

Michael Jack:
Off the Wall 1979
Thriller 1983
Bad 1987
Brothers Johnson - Right On Time

Early 80's

The Core is one of EC's best jams, love the Hammond B3 sound on this tune.

Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part l (1987)

My Rating: 71.55
rank: 594 (out of 809)

Power Metal

It was an improvement from their previous album "Walls of Jericho". Side 2 much better than side 1.

My Beatles list>

Abbey Road
Revolver
A Hard Day's Night
Sgt Pepper's
Rubber Soul
White Album
Magical Mystery Tour
Help!
With the Beatles
Beatles For Sale
Please Please Me
Let it Be

To me Abbey Road is their what could have been album, features the best Lennon Beatles tune plus 2 fantastic Harrison compositions; the McCartney driven suite on side 2 is collectively a masterpiece. The must underrated Beatles album is Hard Days night, Lennon driven album with for the 1st time an album of all original tunes. Magical to me is really an EP and they threw on some singles recorded a year earlier to fill the thing out in the USA. At the bottom is the lousy sounding Let it Be, Spector didn't know what to do with these songs and the chemistry just isn't there.

My Rating: 75.64
rank: 354 (out of 810)

Melodic Death Metal

Wasn't really feeling it at first but then got into it about the 5th song in. Favorite was "Jester Script Transfigured". I have seen In Flames several times in concert back in the day....

A couple from 1997... I was looking for something different

34

Bjork - Homogenic (1997)

My Rating: 72.600
rank: 552 (out of 813)

Experimental/Electronica

I had only heard one song by Bjork previously so this was a new experience for me. I really liked her voice.

========================================

35

Gary Numan - Excile (1997)

My Rating: 70.900
rank: 624 (out of 813)

Industrial

I was a huge Tubeway Army fan and the early works of Gary Numan but never listened to anything after his first 3 albums. Gary Numan was a huge influence to Trent Reznor of NIN and that has come around full circle as it becomes obvious that Trent Reznor has also become an influence to Gary Numan. Excile though came across to me as weak and the lyrical tones of mocking religion did not fit from the far cries of "Are Friends Electric?". Of course though it is a 17 year old gap for me so maybe when I fill that gap this album will make more sense....

We have very similar music taste. I would add Chicago V, before they started going down hill.

1978... My top 3

1) Some Girls, Rolling Stones
2) Stranger in Town, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
3) Bruce Springsteen, Darkness on the Edge of Town.

Also a great year for debuts: The Police, Van Halen, The Cars, Dire Straits, Prince, and Devo all released solid debut albums.
