These teams scrimmaged prior to the season and I believe reports were that Jackson looked better at the time.

They also have played 3 Common opponents, with the results below.

vs. Mentor
Jackson +37
St. Eds +19

vs SVSM
Jackson -2
St. Eds -2

vs. Toledo St. John
Jackson +16
St. Eds -14

Looks like Jackson should be the clear favorite.

Common opponents include SVSM, Mentor, and St. John's. Both teams lost close to SVSM and handled Mentor. Jackson is coming off a convincing win against St. John's, a team Ed's lost to handily back in January (but was easily their worst outing of the year). Both teams are playing very well right now, when it counts, and I expect a good game.

Jackson should be considered the favorite with their talented duo of bigs in Young and Hill, going against a guard oriented St. Edward team. I'm hoping that the three contests against Ignatius, a team that also boasts two talented and athletic big men, will have them prepared for the challenge.

Have you seen Pic Central or Moeller? After seeing Pic Central, they would definitely give Jackson a lot of problems. As for this matchup, I think Jackson by 10 or so.

Good guard play gave Jackson their closest contest of the tourney versus Copley.

I think the last time they played in the tournament was 1988 regional semi-final in Canton with Jackson winning. Anyone know of a more recent tournament game?

I really like Jax guards, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I thought Jax guards did a lot of good things that game, but ultimately it was Young & Hill in that one, as they had 33 of Jax 55. Every game since has been a different story, as Jax has had great balance in smoking every team since that game. I hope the Bears win the whole damn thing, that would be awesome.

I have watched most JAX games this year. They are playing their best ball of the season right now because they have really stepped up their defense. Of course their big two are tough but their guards are playing very well and they are solid defenders and better scorers than they get credit for. On any night any of the 5 starters can go off for 20 so they are a tough match up. Palotta is a tough kid to stop inside at 6 5.0A key is for Hill to stay out of early foul trouble as he is a beast when on the floor.

Both teams lost to Division 2 Finalist STVM by 2 Points. Jackson Front Court is legit. Whoever wins this game will be challenged by the Cincinnati Moeller-Pickerington Central winner. How would these four teams stack up against D2 Semi-Finalist Trotwood Madison ???

This is very similar to 2010 where Jackson has the easiest ride to Columbus. All of the good teams getting knocked off before they have play them...

I've seen both teams against the Irish. IMO, Jackson will win by 8-10. I don't think Ed's front court can match up against Young and company. And while I give Ed's back court the advantage, I don't think they will create enough turnovers and transition baskets to offset the Jackson edge in the front court.

I could be wrong, but I think The Butler was saying it was Copley's good guard play that contributed to giving Jackson their closest contest of the tournament.

Ok, my bad, If that is the case then I TOTALLY misread his post. My apologies to The Butler, and thanks for the good catch Mack.

Yes only the number 1 or 2 team in the State are left as potential championship game! Those Jackson teams sure are lucky!

Easiest ride? Hmmmm, I think you're forgetting about the super region setup in central and southern Ohio that allows the best teams to avoid each other until they reach regionals.

Not to mention that Jackson had one of the toughest leagues and schedules of any team in the State. Let's go BEARS!
