For many years, Oak Hills, Elder, Colerain, Taylor, West Hi, Northwest, Norwood, etc. have wrestled together for the Westside Wrestling club. This was once held at Oak Hills and the past couple of years has been ran at Mount St. Joseph.
The last couple of years Coach Meyer (Harrison) and I have worked to try to do more things together with Cornhusker & Westside coming together in the spring. Its no secret that in order to get better you need good coaching, but you also need practice partners on your level, whether that is an elite level or a beginners level, you need it. The last couple of years have worked out okay for Cornhusker and Westside when coming together, but when I stumbled across the thread on Yappi promoting the new spring club in Columbus in which multiple clubs/schools/coaches are merging at Otterbein University, I thought to myself "we can do better." It is not a good thing to have Harrison, LaSalle, and Elder all running separate clubs when they are located within 30 minutes from each other and those kids could all be training together
So, Coach Zerkle and I talked about it and agreed that this spring there will be NO Westside FR/GR Club, NO Golden Cross FR/GR Club, but rather one location where we can come TOGETHER to train. We are going to combine and try to do whats best for the wrestlers in our area. Harrison had already laid out plans for Cornhusker FR/GR club this spring, so Cornhusker will continue, but they also agree that everyone training together is what is needed and are currently trying to work something out so they can join (even if its one day a week).
This is our trial run at this, so we will see how it goes.
Of course some of these guys play spring sports or may choose not to do FR/GR, but look at what "could be
" if just Harrison, Elder, and LaSalle were in one room training (not to mention studs from surrounding schools that will be in attendance
Returning State Placers

Returning District Placers
That is just 3 teams and these are just high school guys, didn't mean to leave anyone out here or slight anyone
, just pointing out the talent that could all be training together if we get this rolling.
Like Coach Zerkle mentioned above, if you want to be a part of it or have any questions we want to have as many quality coaches & wrestlers in the room as possible. If you have any questions shoot them our way.
