Not sure when the last time was for Ohio to have the most AAS, or even if it has happened. I know we're typically up in the top 3-5, but Pennsylvania seems to always be #1, at least in recent memory.

Kolodzik has been gone long enough to be under New Jersey. Same for Mark Hall, not under Michigan anymore.

I think the consistency works. How they list the one should be how they list the other. Both are in the same boat. Don't mind either way as long as they are listed with the same criteria.

If Kolodzik's parents also moved to NJ, then he is NJ. If he just boarded, then he is Ohio.

Is this where the wrestler was born, or where he wrestled in HS/MS? How is it determined where he is from?

Didn't Myles Martin wrestled in Maryland in high school?

Not sure how long he was in New Jersey?

Kyle finished HS at the training center, but is still considered to be from Maryland. Not sure why Myles wouldn't be?

Is there a link for the list? Or is this something you did on your own, bdhof?

Only 3 are seniors! A lot of returning AA's. Any others that could join these ranks next year? I know Abounader redshirted and will definitely be one that should AA next year.

The NCAA uses the hometown/state the wrestler says they are from. Been that way for years.

Marinelli comes to mind, but 165 returns 7 AAs, so it will be tough to find a spot on the podium. Heffernan is right there with the bottom tier of 6 returning AAs @ 157. He was a 10 seed coming in. 285 graduates 5 seniors but Coon returns after a RS, so maybe one could make a case for Vough, but maybe he RSs and let's a few more leave, like Snyder and Coon. After Vough's sophomore year I thought he'd be really special. His junior and senior years brought him back to the pack somewhat IMO. And he is really good, but I see him more as a bubble AA rather than a sure thing.

Returning AAs
125 - 5
133 - 5
141 - 7
149 - 5
157 - 6
165 - 7
174 - 4
184 - 3
197 - 3
285 - 3
Does not include AAs from previous years

Think 197 and 285 are four- Moore, Haught, Weigel, and Beazley are all back at 197, Snyder/Hall/Nevills/Kasper at 285.

Including AAs from previous years:

125 - 7 (Millhof and Moisey)
133 - 6 (Schram)
141 - 8 (McKenna)
149 - 9 (Pantaleo, Oliver, Martinez, Tsirtsis)
157 - 7 (Clagon)
165 - 8 (McFadden)
174 - 6 (Epperly, Ramos)
184 - 4 (Renda)
197 - 5 (Miklus)
285 - 6 (Coon and Dhesi)

Still some open spots, and as we have seen guys who AA in the past don't always do it again. Abounader is definitely a guy I think will make that jump in a 184 that's got several good guys gone. Other guys that I will be watching to see if they make jumps are Baughman, Ladnier, Miller, Heffernan, and Laney.

You can also make a case for Cam Kelly, and Brent Moore as hopefuls

I might have a couple excel docs with way too much info on this stuff... not saying I do, but I might.

I think Ohio is hitting a great period for top level guys who can succeed in college. Ohio has 12 guys in the top 10 at their weight according to Intermat, with like 5 other guys at 11 or 12. These are the guys that will do well in college for the most part, and Ohio has a lot to look forward to.

I thought these were interesting statistics.

I wanted to post it on the 'JH stud' threads but it thankfully was closed.

I would be curious to see what the percentage is of those kids that are dual sport HS athletes and then participate in one of the sports in college. My guess is there are a bunch of the kids listed under wrestling that participate in other sports in college. Football most likely the highest.
