State Finals 2018 Question

Trying to plan a trip and want to be in town to watch the d1 game for whoever makes it

Will D1 be Friday again this year? Are there any places that have announced the calendar of games?

Thanks in advance for any answers as I couldn't find it myself

If it's a time-off issue for work, I'd play it safe and request off for that Friday. Unless you think you can wait.

Friday night makes sense now instead of Saturday afternoon given that the B1G title game goes against the night cap and some people won't want to be traveling during that game. And D1 is probably never going to be a morning game.

Now that all playoffs are on Friday they wait until just before the semifinals to announce which games are Saturday and which ones will be Thursday and Friday. Odds are it's Friday night. Saturday night is out. Mornings are out. And that's Saturday afternoon slot didn't work the best for them.

Assuming they go with all-Friday again, I don't believe they announced the 3 Saturday games until semi-final week last year. Probably won't help you there. If they go back to 3 divisions on Saturday, you'll at least know that earlier on.

When do you think they'll announce it? I thought Friday games were a shoe in for 2 years.

The D1 championship has been on Friday night the past couple of years. Prior to that, Saturday afternoon. The OHSAA is scared to death of competing with the Big Ten title game on TV, so we won't be seeing the D1 title game on Saturday night anytime soon. Even though the times won't be announced for months, my guess is that D1 will remain on Friday night for awhile.

It will depend on the matchups. If Steubenville makes the final in D4, they'll put them & a couple MAC schools on the Saturday tilt because the OHSAA knows that their fans will go to the games.

I think D2 finals on Thursday night and D1 finals on Friday night is probably a lock. I actually wish they would go back to 6 classes and eliminate the Thursday game. The extra class was probably about generating extra playoff revenue. Sad! But that's the times we live in.

If it weren't for the OHSAA insisting charging admission to each game individually, playing four games in one day is quite easy and many states do it.

Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey have all currently, or formerly, played four or more games in one day at one site in the playoffs or finals. And in each case, it's just a single ticket.

The insistence of individual tickets requires that Thursday game.

Not if there were only 6 classes.

I seriously doubt they're getting those worms back in the can. So, we're stuck with 7 until they decide to go to 8. With the number of states that have eight, compared to the number of teams OHSAA has playing, it's rather surprising they just went up on class instead of two the last time around.

That will be the game that the browns clinch a playoff spot.

Mark. That. Down.

I have season tickets too. And I'm already going to Tampa and New Orleans away

So maybe I'm just a dumber Browns fan . But I like to take trips and this way I see a game while doing so

We like to travel like that too, but for baseball. Catching Indians in St Louis this summer. Never been up in Arch so we’ll do that too.

I do that as well. Was in St. Louis and Colorado for baseball last season. And in Toronto for hockey in February

This summer I'm either doing kc and Minnesota. Or both Chicago teams in Milwaukee in one trip
