Boardman and Dover both fall into the same conversation. Dover's only win vs the district is Wooster the 1st game of the year and Wooster had them down 8 at half. Then Wooster beats Perry the next game and Perry beat Mckinley and so on and so forth. Not sure Boardman plays anyone in the district to compare. You have to play people in the district to see where you match up when it comes to these votes. I agree with cinco that it is hard to get votes from the FL. Especailly knowing that no one in the Fed wants to drive to Dover or Boardman for a game. I think last year Boardman had to travel all the way to Wooter on a Tuesday night to get beat in the opening round.

Boardman beats Warren Harding 74-53 and moves to 15-3 on the season. Best team in the Mahoning Valley by far.

Dover beat phila tonight to move to 17-2 and should at the very least get a home game but who knows what the federal league will decide.

I don't think there's much doubt about Dover getting a home game. In fact, there's a very good chance of them getting TWO home games.

13 teams in the draw. That means the top 3 get 1st round byes. Seeds 4-8 will be home in the 1st round. Seeds 1-4 will be home in the 2nd round unless 4 loses to 13, in which case the 5 vs. 12 winner is home in the 2nd round.

Only the 4th or 5th seeds could conceivably be home in the 1st 2 rounds.

I love the intensity that the Spartans play with on both ends of the floor. Very smart on offense as well.

Your "name" will make you a darkhorse, but if Boardman keeps playing the way they did tonight, Canton could be in for a big surprise. Good luck!

Appreciate that Worm. This team plays very well together.

First time Boardman wins a league crown since 2000 back when Terence Dials was roaming the halls.

You're right. I wasn't thinking clearly.

It is possible but not as possible as I was thinking. Getting the #4 seed would make it much more likely.

I think Boardman needs to start scheduling 3-4 Fed teams a year. Birch has done a good job. Yes, I think his record has generally been inflated by being in a weaker league in a down year in the valley but the team has definitely improved since the start of the year and tends to get much stronger as the game goes on...

Kind of wish we had a solid head coaching staff in the 90s/early 00s when we had size and talent only to waste it on the court too often lol

It's hard to remember just how many teams end up getting byes coupled with the NEDAB making the change before last season to where the very top seeds can't elect to play in the 1st round and potentially set themselves up for 2 home games. Heck, for the DI girls tourney at the Fieldhouse, the top 5 teams got byes with only 11 teams in the draw.

NEDAB used to have sample brackets for all the potential scenarios of number of teams in the district, but I don't see them there now.

If I'm Boardman, I wouldn't mind having the 4th seed. I get to stay home in the 1st round and have a tune-up game. In the 2nd round, someone is having to travel a fair distance to play at my place.

I'm good with the bracket templates. My issue is not remembering how many teams are in the draw to begin with.

And the travelling team would be the #5 or #12 seed.

Birch is the man. Has really brought that program back from the dead. 19 wins two years ago and will be pushing that total again this year.

Combined 45-7 record between V, JV, and Fr levels this year. And the junior high levels were pretty strong as well with some good talent. Itís been quite awhile since the program has been this strong. And the varsity team only has 2 or 3 seniors so the next few years may even be better for varsity level.

I think youíll see an upgrade in non conference schedule in future with the improvement the program has made.

I thought last year was a bit of a disappointment but Birch really turned things around this year. I think he really gets the best out of his players even if they lack size and/or speed in some aspects. They're very fundamentally sound and don't beat themselves.

I think they'll give Fed teams fits. And they probably only have to beat 2 of them to win the district.

Boardman's freshman teams have been undefeated the last 2 years. A very bright future ahead for this program. Also helps when your 6-6 kid in the middle is only a sophomore.

As stated above, Birch does a really good job of getting his kids to buy into his coaching and playing well as a team. They are on a roll right now.

Interested to see how they play tonight vs Erie First Christian Academy who is a talented team making the trip down here tonight.

I don’t see 9-9 getting seeded ahead of 12-6 especially when they are both in the same league, but who knows.

I see McKinley as the #8 seed.

Anyone have an idea on the projected seedings here?
Very difficult to find anything about Canton hoops online.

Boardman beats a talented Erie Christian Academy team tonight by double digits to move to 16-3 on the year.

I think they would try to have potential semi-finals be Fed vs non-Fed, barring any upsets. So all 3 of our predictions look good. The more important spots are 5-8. Fed will probably try to get the best matchups for their teams against Boardman/Dover.

I wish that the coaches didn’t vote and they could find a more impartial way to seed. It would only take a few people. I’d be happy to do it!

Who are legit contenders to advance out of this group?
Seems like a deep group. I would assume at least the top 4 has a shot. Maybe even anyone in the top 8?

I’d say top 8. Depends who gets hot. I could see it going many different ways.

I also don’t see top 4 as a lock to make semi’s. Anyone can be beaten on a given night.

Not sure who this District matches up with (I think I saw Euclid), but I don’t see the winner of the District winning a game at regionals. Not a knock, this is a deep group, but no really talented team, as in years past.
