Division II Stow District

There hasn't been a lot of talk about the Stow District at all, with the exception of Benedictine.

My predictions of the top four seeds:

Woodridge (13-3)
Benedictine (8-6)
Gilmour Academy (10-3)
Revere (11-3)

Revere won this district last year, and look to return. But Benedictine is definitely gonna be a threat, dropping from Division I. Gilmour is also a tough team, playing in the North Coast League, and Woodridge is one of the top teams in the PTC Metro Division.

Thoughts on the district? Do any of the other teams not mentioned (Chagrin Falls, CVCA, etc.) have a shot of pulling an upset?

Only seeing Gilmour once when they played against St.Joes, they are going to be a tough out. They have shooters that can hurt you especially OíTool (son of Sean OíTool) and heII of an athlete in CJ Charleston. Benedictine is a clear cut favorite to win IMO however Iím sure Revere wants to get back to Canton.

I agree Ctown. Gilmour should have won v Joeís. Up 18 at one point. Decrane didnít shorten his bench minutes and the reserves gave up that cushion and the lead in the fourth. The only way GA gets out is if they shorten their bench and rely on their starters. When the top 5 are out there they can sling it

#1 Revere: (proj. record 14-3) They're leading their division so far, and will likely win it, provided they don't slip up this week. Their best wins are Copley and Beachwood.

#2 Woodridge: Only game is against Norton. Assuming they win, they will be 15-3 overall and 12-1 in the PTC Metro. They have already clinched their division, but the only problem is their SOS isn't strong at all. Best win is over Cloverleaf.

#3 Gilmour Academy: (proj. record 15-3) Best win is against Buchtel, and the non-con slate isn't really anything to write home about. Had a chance for a HUGE win against VASJ, but failed. May end up costing them the #1 seed, but will still get a bye.

#4 Benedictine: (proj. record 10-8) Their best wins are CCC (swept season series), Richmond Heights, and Solon, and two close losses against Hoban and Mentor. Wonder if the voters will take that into consideration.

#5 CVCA: (proj. record 13-5) If Benedictine didn't have the SOS, or wasn't in this district, the Royals would get the #4.

#6 Chagrin Falls (proj. record 10-9)

Still feel Bene is the team to beat come tournament time - regardless of seed position.

Provided they are on opposite sides of the bracket, I see Benedictine & Gilmore in the district final.

Gilmour plays Benedictine in the last regular season game on Feb 22.
Should know a little more then bout how they stack up against each other.

Then again, maybe not. Neither team may want to show everything they have since there could very well be a much more meaningful rematch a week or so down the road.

Same thing happened with VASJ and Lake Catholic last year. They both played late in the year but played on a whole different level when they met again in the Ashtabula District Final. The game was still competitive but you could tell that both didnít want to give anything away.

I think who ends up in the district final really depends on where the teams fall in the bracket. It will be easier to gauge when it comes out in a few days.

Iím really surprised that Gilmour Academy was given the #2 seed over Benedictine who got the #3 seed. Either way Bene is the better team but Gilmour can give you a run for your money

I am not that surprised. They were going to stick Benny/Gilmour on one side of the bracket and Revere/Woodridge over on the other so that it would not potentially be an all NCL Finals.

When they play each other it will decide which team is better.

Could play twice in the next few weeks if they both move through the bracket as expected.

Voting results here - https://ohsaa.org/Portals/0/Division2BoysBasketball.pdf Scroll down to pages 9 & 10 for Stow district. Interesting to see Revere and Gilmour tied and the tie was broken with a "dice roll"

Overall seems about right. Top four teams seem set, will be fun district games.

I'm not so sure that was the thought process. Revere was going to be the #1 seed due to its record. And while I think Bennie's will win this bracket, I can't argue too much that Revere is deserving of the #1 seed. Given that, then Bennie and Gilmour are #2 and #3, no matter which way you seed them, making Woodridge what it should be, the #4 seed. So whether Bennie or Gilmour got the #2 seed, the other was going to get the #3 seed. And the pairings match up in the semifinals would be the same if everything goes according to chalk.

Revere had an absurd comeback tonight to beat a very good Warrensville Heights team on the road

Nice statement by Revere. I guess there is life after Nance. This district was viewed by many (me included) to be Bene and everyone else. This is now a 3 team district and it would not surprise me if any one of the top 3 advance to regionals.
