It's mental for this team. Even though we start a Senior, 3 juniors and a freshman, you have to make a statement in a game like this. We're still finding our way. This game is symbolic regardless of the Titans record.

With Lichtenberg back and the Smith kid becoming eligible midway through the season I would not want to play SJ late. Just saying.

Weird vibe from this years squad. Kimmons and Ziros hardly saw the floor against CCHS, Dimitri who I think is very good played terrible against CCHS. Maybe it's just the one night, but this team has a much different feel than most past teams. And as talented as Smith is, he's never been coached in a team atmosphere like he will be expected to this year. Learning curve for sure.

Toledo St. Johns at Lima Senior tonight. What to look for out of St Johns for the Spartans point of view?

Moyer is SSJ best player and best all around offensive player. If you limit him, SJJ will struggle to score 45ish tonight. SJJ has struggled this year with physical athletic teams, so it could be a long night...

57-49 Lima Senior wins. Wasn't pretty tonight but we did go 11/13 from the charity stripe. Fulcher led the way with 19 and Simpson had 15. At Toledo Central Catholic on Friday.

Whitmer beat SJ in a close one for the first time since 2012. SJ is getting better and better IMO. Say what you will about Heintschel but there is no doubt the man can coach.

Lima Senior: 10 games in. That early schedule could have helped them a couple ways. Get new players comfortably into the rotation and more rest in conference play. The latter maybe even more important as they have so much travel. I guess we'll see how that works out for Whitmer but 6 games means a pretty rushed second semester.

I see Findlay put a scare into SF.
After jumping out to a huge lead Start came back on Whitmer. Panthers pull away 55-47 final.
Findlay, SJ, CCHS all getting better and will give Whitmer, Lima, SF fits in second half I think.

Whitmer used a last second 3 to beat Central. Coach's kid played out of his mind for Whitmer and it is good to see Butler playing. Maybe Whitmer is a little deeper than most people thought.
The game was not pretty, with a ton of turnovers, a lot of them not really forced. Both teams looking to get out and run and would just throw it ahead to the other team.
Someone at Central must not be living right. They are 1 or 2 possessions away in each of these games from having a great season.
Lose by 2 to Findlay (7-3) on a 1/2 court heave
Lose by 3 to Lima Sr (9-1)
Lose by 2 to Cardinal Stritch (9-2) in double OT
Lose by 3 to Whitmer (8-0) on a last second 3

Central Catholic lost it's 4th winnable game thus far. Close game that go down to the last minute sometimes are determined by players with basketball sense and savvy. Presently the Irish play all football players but one. If and when that changes, those close games might go a different direction.

Lima Senior at Findlay Friday. If Rucki has his way, final score will be 10-7 PROBABLY in regulation.

Is there a coach who does more with less than Jim Rucki at Findlay?

What is your reason of saying "with less?"
good coach but lets not overplay. He's got a whole town with a good athletic reputation to work with. It's one that's not exactly in the worse economic shape and little competition for those players.
Probably 20 years experience? I think Findlay generally rides the highs and lows. I don't see a huge pattern of upsets or being upset over the years. Good solid coach who has done the service but not a bunch of title runs, conference-wise let alone statewide. Perhaps I'm misremembering?
They have some very good athletes, perhaps exceptional in Nunn, developed across multiple sports. These are not walk-overs. Against Lima, they hit their first 15 of 21. If that's coaching only, there'd be a whole lot more teams doing it. Even so, sometimes it's just your day. Even without that, they were not going to lay down for Lima or anyone else. Findlay has too much raw material to work with to even consider that.

... on the other hand, doing that to OG at ANY division is an accomplishment. Next three games for Findlay are going to be worth price of admission.

Findlay has at least 3 small college guys in Adams, Nunn and Roth. I am not familiar with the rest of their guys but those 3 are tough to defend.
92 points vs a good program like OG is impressive.

Strempzka went for 19 or 22 the last two nights. Three headed monster. Multiple ways to beat ya.

My guess Adams ends up D1. Most likely MAC. 6'4" can shot the three and handle the ball. He is only in 10th grade so could even add a few more inches.

I believe Findlay also has one of the best 8th graders in the state. Heard he played with King James travel team.
