2017 Suburban League American Discussion

With the divisional assignments released today, it's probably a good time to start looking forward to the 2017 season:

Code:
Total	School Base	+ CP Adjustment = Total
507	Barberton	499	+	8	=	507 (Division II)
420	Highland	420	+	0	=	420 (Division II)
415	Copley 415	+	0	=	415 (Division II)
415	Kent Roosevelt	407	+	8	=	415 (Division II)
364	Aurora 361	+	3	=	364 (Division III)
331	Revere 329	+	2	=	331 (Division III)
300	Tallmadge 299	+	1	=	300 (Division III)

I have a hard time going against Aurora based on their past history, but I would maybe put Aurora and Barberton as 1 and 1A. Saw Barberton once last year and they look like a football team. Hard hitting and very solid on both sides of the ball. I believe they return a lot this fall and I look for them to make an even bigger step forward this year.

I'm not sure where Tallmadge stacks up but this should be Tallmadge's best shot in a while. Their two best classes in a while will be Seniors and Juniors. If they are going to make some noise in the SLA, this will be the year. They have very good size but don't have depth of the more athletic receiver/defensive back types.

On offense, they should be solid at the offensive line, quarterback, and running back positions. Wide receivers is going to be a whole new group.

Defensively, the line and linebackers should be solid. In the defensive backfield, one offensive starter that played alot of plays at Safety should get the start and a returning corner that missed most of the season should be back. The sports are up for grabs.

Aurora should be the favorite. Senior class is very talented. Barberton will be very tough. Copley seems to have lost a lot? I have no Idea how good Highland will be?

Can't wait for this year! Highland has virtually everyone back and will be very good. Barberton has their key skills guys back, and Aurora will be tough too. This might be the deepest year yet. I'm going with Highland though. Like the fact they have 15-16 starters back

Aurora's Oline will be very big and their Defense will be fast to the football. I think they have a chance to make a deep playoff run if they stay healthy.

Seems to me we heard similar predictions last year. Maybe D-III will be a better fit.

Hudson guy?? You won on a gift call from refs. You are also 2x the size of a school. Impressive. Ridiculous

Aurora had about three minutes where they were competitive, the other 45 minutes didn't leave much doubt. Anyone that was there, besides you, would agree. Hudson's defense completely shut down Aurora's vaunted offense.

Whine about school size all you want, it wasn't Hudson calling out Aurora for the last few years. You guys kept squeaking about how Hudson was ducking Aurora, that the Explorers were afraid to schedule the mighty Greenmen. We heard about how the "two big kids on the block" should square off. Well they did - Hudson won and the final score was far from indicative of how the game played out.

I wasn't impressed, Aurora was the 5th best team Hudson played last year. Should have been worse, classic example of playing down to your opponent. I was wondering though when did the screen pass become the identity of Aurora football? You guys did run a couple of beauties.

Clear fumble on kickoff. Replay on TV showed it. Should have been 1st and ten Aurora on Hudson 8yd line score tied 7 to 7 in yhe 4th qtr. You got an absolute gift from the refs. You also got a gift the week before against American Division Copley. Both Games handed to you. Btw, Aurora beat Copley pretty handily during the regular season on the road.

Let's just stop this already. That was last year and last year is done. Hudson won by a touchdown.

I didn't start it. Read the thread. Hudson came on this American division thread and started the b.s.

Blaming school size and refs, you're delusional and a hypocrite. You've been crapping on Hudson for years. Superman got his cape pulled and you don't like it. D2 was too much. A couple of high end players didn't get it done. Aurora is a good D3 football team. Rejoice competitive balance. You're back where you belong. Big fish meet small pond.

Hudson definitely outplayed Aurora last year. Good line returns, but need to replace RB & QB. Arslanian is a huge loss. They'll be good as always. I think the American will come down to Aurora, Barberton, and Highland. Highland started almost all juniors last year and plays both Barberton & Aurora at home in 2017.

So Aurora moves to D3 and are no longer in the D2R5 playoff picture. Cuyahoga Falls drops to D2 and takes Aurora's spot in D2R5.

Tallmadge's top returning players are:
QB: Sam Seeker (JR)
RB: Ty Shannon (SR)
RB: Richie Eyre (JR)

Not sure if anyone is getting recruited for college. Shannon is the most likely of the three because he is the Senior and football is his main sport.

Also hearing that a couple athletes in the school are going to be playing football this year that haven't played for a few years. They could be impact players if true.
