No one was willing to assume his contract, evidently $3mill in 2017 and $4.3mill in 2018 is a steep price for a backup TE.

as always, i think the same thing - won't know much about this draft until at least 3 years down the road, maybe 5.

we got all positions of need in the first 4 picks - pass rushing LB, WR, CB, and RB (RB may only be a backup, but considering LeVeon lack of being able to play 16 games and DeAngelo being gone, i'd say that was a good pick)

the MB tweet about Coates is a non-story. both blew it off in later tweets and you could tell it was a joke. if anything, it just breeds more competition going into camp.

we will see now the draft finishes out today.

Bryant didn't blow it off and it didn't appear to be a joke given he followed it up with a tweet about it being "business" then later deleted the tweets.

So he started his first tweet with "lol," doesn't negate either of the things I brought up. Do you also believe if you begin a sentence with "with all due respect" you get to say whatever you want? Either way, the entire situation isn't a big deal, I just found your reaction funny.

It was ed for Cleveland to let him go. They have an abundance of cap room and a dearth of talent for their flavor-of-the-month QB to target. Yeah, I get they drafted their "future" at TE but newsflash.....two TE's can play at the same time!

They should have kept him to see how it all pans out. Who knows, the new TE may get hurt, slow to learn the offense, struggle in a certain aspect of the game. Barnidge was a bright spot in the offense and very easily could have still contributed next year especially on a team with the cap room. There was no reason to let him go unless they have inside info on an injury/drug/legal issues.

Looking through the steelers.....eh. I realize they cannot count on Bryant to stick around but though they should have went heavier on defense. The need for a RB was real and glad they got one.

- Coates will apparently be out for a week or so after a knee scope.

- JuJu sprained his ankle day 1, Cameron Sutton went down day 2, and James Conner hurt his shoulder day 3. Not a great start for the rookies.

- Senquez Golson was carted off the field with a hamstring injury. Really sucks for him if it's serious. He was apparently looking pretty good.

Conner sent to Pittsburgh to have his shoulder examined. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Typical Tomlin and Haley BS unprepared and undisciplined under-performance. Not a good showing on offense at all.

Positives:
1. TJ Watt. Got a lot of pressure and had a nice INT.
2. Jesse James. His best day as a pro, easily. Should be a nice threat near the endzone.
3. Antonio Brown. The only star player on offense that looked sharp.

Negatives:
1. Offensive line. They were getting pushed around for much of the game, and that's why I am not harshly judging Bell's performance.
2. Roethlisberger. Looked very rusty, continuing his trend of sub-par play on the road. He was lucky to only have thrown 1 INT.
3. Bryant. 1 catch for 14 yards. I know he didn't play for a year but that's horrible. Eli Rogers had a better day.
4. Mental mistakes. Way too many stupid penalties. Tomlin's teams are never well disciplined, so while it was frustrating to watch it was not at all surprising.
5. Haley's play-calling/game-plan. The Browns were playing their DBs up no further than 5 yards off the line, so why did they call so many WR bubble screens? It's no surprise the offense didn't show signs of life until Haley changed the approach.

The rolling credits shot with Rothlesberger, I thought a kid had gotten on the field but it was just Kizer.

How many fines are going to be issued to Steeler players this week? Any suspensions as a result of those hits?

Lets see how they look against the Vikings. The adage is that teams improve the most between Week 1 and 2. I think the Browns will win 5 games (split with Bengals/Ravens) so a win in Cleveland is a good win. I think Steelers win by 7 @ home. 27-20

You're crying. The Browns will get away with questionable hits this year and you won't say a word.

One thing is for sure..Pitt sucks this year. How do you barely beat Cleveland? I am sure Cleveland was excited that they only lost by a few points too, heard they had a parade.

Game wasn't on and the web is not good enough to stream so followed on game cast. I'm not surprised how close it was. Browns start seasons playing teams close It seems.
Plus bell missing camp ya knew the offense would start slow

It was another Tomlin play-down-to-inferior-competition type of game. The team just looked uninspired and undisciplined.

This post is spot on. We've seen this from the Browns. Promising start from a young qb. Close loss to a good team. Optimism for an improved season. After week 8 they'll be 3-5 " but with a couple of breaks we could've been 5-3 or 6-2". Come January they'll be 4-12 looking forward to the 2018 draft class.

This ain't college football where style points count. A win on the road against a divisional foe is a win. Bell won't be invisible again this year. Either Eli or Martavis will be a solid #2. Loved the 7 sacks, don't care if it's against the Browns or patriots.

Exactly. It isn't like CFB/HS where one of the top teams should just demolish a lower tier team even if they play poorly.

Browns are professional athletes as well and Ill take any win on the road, especially in the division and just look at their early season games over the years....so many close losses where they were "just a few plays away" from winning.

Browns fans QQing that the steelers are so overrated because they barely beat them...........I bet they wish one day bengals fans would call the Browns overrated because they only beat the lowly bengals by 3 pts on the road!

Run games tend to take a little longer to develop in season because of the lack of contact in practice and preseason they aren't playing much or sitting out like LevBell. Itll take a few games before the running attack can improve typically.
