GWOC 2001-present annual history thread....

The GWOC was formed in 2001 which was basically the merger of the WOL and GMVC. It expanded to include some of the MML schools and now has 20 members in 4 divisions....

The following are the records of the GWOC teams in games vs other GWOC teams during this time span. Only games in which the teams are a member of the GWOC count and this includes playoff games....

=============================================
rank/team/wins/losses/win %/pts scored/pts allowed/home record

01 Huber Hts Wayne .... 103-18 85.1% [34.6/14.9] (50-10)
02 Centerville .............. 94-28 77.0% [33.7/17.9] (50-11)
03 Springboro .............. 65-22 74.7% [33.4/19.7] (29-14)

09 Troy ....................... 68-68 50.0% [24.0/21.3] (36-32)
10 Vandalia Butler ......... 56-62 47.5% [23.9/25.1] (29-30)
11 Xenia ...................... 58-67 46.4% [24.1/25.3] (29-34)

============================================
Centerville is 16-0 vs Fairmont with an avg score of 38-12
Wayne is 11-0 vs Xenia with an avg score of 38-16

Other interesting series.....

While Trotwood has dominated in their division they have struggled against the big 3: 0-4 vs Centerville, 1-6 vs Northmont, and 1-7 vs Wayne

Some rivalries:

Wayne is 12-6 vs Centerville with a 31-21 avg score
Piqua is 9-7 vs Troy with a 20-19 avg score

Some streaks

Trotwood has won 8 league titles in the last 9 years.
Wayne has not lost a home game against a GWOC team since 2012.

================================================== ======

GWOC discussion:

Do you like the 4 divisions?
Expansion? If so, who would you like to see in or would you want to see the divisions rearranged....
Best GWOC rivalry? Which away team brings the most crowd? The noisiest....
What was the strangest thing you have seen at a GWOC game.....?

===========================================

If you would want to know the series records of any GWOC team vs gwoc team and avg score just let me know.....

I always thought expansion got a little too crazy. The North teams should have just left and started their own conference

Piqua, Troy, Sidney, Butler, Greenville could of added teams like Fairborn, Xenia, Tipp, and had a very good conference on their own..

I don't like the current format as I believe there should be just 3 divisions right now and not 4 but since there is 4 I believe that the GWOC needs to expand....

Teams I would try to get into the GWOC:

Tecumseh, Bellbrook, Franklin, Wilmington..... possibly, Edgewood, Middletown, Clinton Massie....

I do not believe Middletown or Edgewood would leave. Clinton Massie is a bit desperate but travel would probably too much....

This is how I would have the 4 divisions following expansion:

"A"

Wayne
Centerville
Springfield
Fairmont
Beavercreek
Springboro

"B"
Lebanon
Miamisburg
Northmont
Trotwood
Xenia
Fairborn (If somehow we could convince Middletown I would have them here and move Fairborn to another division)

"C"

Piqua
Troy
Vandalia
Sidney
Greenville
Tecumseh (I know the Arrows are not interested in the GWOC but they would fit in great.... possibly, Bellefontaine... if not, then Tippecanoe)

"D"

Stebbins
Franklin
Bellbrook
Tippecanoe
West Carrollton
Wilmington

Having Tipp in the "D" makes no sense, even if Tecumseh were to join, geographicly and talent wise they would be much better fit in the "D".

I agree that Tipp is a better fit in "C" then "D" but so would Tecumseh. I picked Tecumseh because of enrollment numbers.... Tecumseh had a chance to join the GWOC but they turned it down.... no Tecumseh then I would have Tipp back in "C"...

The GWOC is way too big as is. It would be nice to see Franklin, Fairborn, Tipp, Stebbins, Xenia ect form their own league. It is kinda unfortunate the old MML is no longer around because it would have been perfect for some of these mid-sized schools.

GWOC 2001-present annual history thread....

Strangest thing...Wayne at Springfield South...probably 2001. Wayne defending their own end zone. South driving for the game-winning touchdown. Wayne's band playing while play is live. The Wayne defense couldn't communicate with each other. South scores easily and wins the game. It was Mike Freeman's senior year and Marcus' sophomore year.

West Carrollton needs to vacate the GWOC and make room for Franklin or Bellbrook.
