Trimble HS Stadium Closed

http://abc6onyourside.com/news/local...otball-stadium

I thought this was sad. Trimble has great community support but is a very poor area. Sports are huge in this town and sad they might have to use Athens or Nelsonville York for games

That's a shame. Sounds like even if they can fix it, it may take too long to have any games played there this season.

Something should have been done earlier to get money for this.

Where might they be playing their home games now?

It's an extremely poor area. Repairing a football stadium isn't anywhere near the top of the needs list.

The stadium was built I believe as part of the late 1930's national WPA (Works Project Administration) program.

It is truly an iconic structure for small-town SE Ohio football.

Hopefully they can get some corporate funding and restore it at some point, but in the meantime I assume Athens, Logan, NY will try and pick up the slack and offer them use of their facilities if scheduling permits, or change to Thursday or Saturday contests.

If someone there started a crowdfunding page to help, I'd kick in a few bucks.

My guess is week 1 vs their rival Nelsonville York will be played at Athens since it will have 3,000 people. After that they will bring in small bleachers.

Also where the stadium is floods 3-4 times a year but Trimble is the second poorest school district in Ohio

Isn't the richest guy in Ohio an OU alum? Maybe he can be convinced to start a gofundme, lol. I'm a believer in stadiums as a place to hold together community and the poorer the community, the more in need. Losing a historical icon for a community is difficult to over value or to replace.

Wish them the best.

Bucky Rumpke played basketball at Ohio University. Rocky Boot's headquarters is in Nelsonville. They just signed another 100 million dollar military contract. Holzer usually gives money to schools.

I would throw a few bucks towards a GoFundMe page too. $800,000 is a high amount but with business support, it could happen.

Oh, I know what I was thinking of. Looked up this Wexler. From New Albany. That's not far from Glouster. Owned Victoria Secrets? He could probably help with uniforms too. lol.

Who has him on rolodex?

Shame. Nice little stadium. I attended home opener there about three years ago. Would not want to be the offensive coordinator though, and have to shimmy up that telephone pole into that crows nest!

More pictures. Repairs apparently not an option.

It would be good community relations for OU to offer Peden Stadium for at least one game. The university offered Athens High School for their entire season when a tornado destroyed their stadium a few years ago.

You would think OU would.
What other options do they realistically have?

Idk if OU can for the first game. Saw on another thread about UC not allowed to hold week 1 games because of NCAA rules. But yeah the engineer just told Trimble it's unsafe

From the pictures on Facebook, looks like the stadium has been in that shape for quite some time.
Surprised it wasn't condemned.

Our old stadium was gonna be condemned and it was in far better shape than this one.

Worst case is to play all games away.
Know it's not what people want to hear, but sometimes you have to do what you can for the sake of the program.
