OSU can't let him leave the state. He is the #1 Ohio prospect this year and would not be surprised to see him as the next 4 time AA from Ohio.

Andonian was dominant. Two 4s in the final and he kicked their brick away when they tossed it in - was funny.

He just became the 100th Ohio JR FS Champ.

Seems like a bunch of wrestlers, not just Ohio guys, were underrated or under ranked.

Saw him win a state title as a freshman in 2016. Very impressed with how he wrestled as a freshman in a pretty tough field. Getting bigger quickly since then and has been adapting very well. I think he was 4th or 5th as a sophomore after a jump from 106 to 120. It would appear he has caught up to the growth nicely over the past year or more.

Summarized Ohio results for medal bouts:

1ST - Decatur (won a solid match over a very talented Lovett, who had beaten two opponents that came into the event ranked above him to make the final); Andonian (technical fall in the final); Kharchla (beat four of the top six finishers in the weight class, shutout tech in the final against a very talented Plott, only gave up points in tournament to Wittlake)

2ND - Gabe Tagg (lost 11-6 to O'Toole, got off to a horrible start and was unable to recover from that 6-0 deficit; this result would be characterized as an upset)

3RD - Julian Tagg (outlasted Biscoglia, who had the big win over Mastrogiovanni in the quarters); Brady (beat Kendall Coleman)

4TH - Norris (teched by Brendon Garcia)

6TH - Noel (teched by a kid he pinned earlier in the tournament, admittedly he was trailing in the match prior to the fall); D'Emilio (lost 9-6 to Jackson Henson, who took Decatur to the brink in the semi); Crace (did not contest his match, was 5-2 against state champions during his tournament run); Snodgrass (pinned by Dow, getting to the semi was his accomplishment)

8TH - Marcelli (was pinned in back and forth match by Borror, bit sour ending to the tournament); Cover (lost a decision to Villalobos for the second time in as many days)

For me, Andonian should probably be a three-time state champion looking at four. The fifth place finish at state as a sophomore was a bad tournament for him. That said, looking at things bigger picture than his specific state tournament climates, if he gets to three state titles, it'll be more than reflective of his career run/ability.

From a national perspective ....

Kharchla beating four All-Americans was a joint tournament high. Danny Braunagel at 160 also beat four AA's, though he did one better than Kharchla by beating placers 2nd-3rd-4th-5th (Kharchla beat 2nd-3rd-5th-6th). On the other hand, Kharchla was more doiminant in those wins over All-Americans.

When you're looking at Fargo from a ranking perspective, you have to view it from multiple perspectives -- whatever percentage you put on each aspect below depends on your viewpoint:
(1) the rankings are a hybrid of relevant results, folk and free, over a period of time (2017-18 "school year")
(2) freestyle tends to be produce some asymmetrical results, and as well all know one result can set up a tournament for good or bad
(3) there certainly were wrestlers that out-performed their pre-tournament ranking, to the good and to the not so good
(4) there's also a piece of "misses" by the ranking coordinators, myself included, that has to be accounted for
(5) there are times that placement in the tournament is not necessarily a true indicator of performance/ability level, i.e. "path" plays a significant role (favorable, unfavorable draws)

I strongly agree with #5; certain styles can pose match up problems, such as Bryce Andonian's drunken spider fist. I see a lot more guys up north learning this kung fu and very few down south, like Chris Donathan.

Any word on Karchla’s favorite schools at this point? How does he fit lineup wise with the Buckeye’s? He’s welcome to come up north, we’ve got a 165 and 174 spot opening up just when he’d come off a freshman year redshirt.

Don't forget the Buckeyes signed another 2018 170 pound State Champion from Ohio who defeated Kharchla at Ironman

Depth chart @184 could use some help: red shirt a year and fill up for that spot.

A few months ago I heard OSU, UNC and UVa were all on his list, not sure if that has changed.

Kharchla will wrestle at the weight he wants and the others will fit around him. If you watched the Ironman match, it was obvious who the better wrestler was and Kharchla is at another level now.

.....a controversial win at best.... 8/10 times, and on a regular sized mat, there's a takedown called that changes the result..... RJ, is a heck of a recruit, but CK has way more upside IMHO.

The 3 Jr. Nat'l champs from Ohio were all extremely impressive (Decatur, Andonian, Kharchla). I just realize that Decatur has never lost at Fargo winning 3 National Championships (2x Cadet and 1x Junior.). For comparison sake, I believe Nathan Tomasello won 3 Junior National Freestyle titles, and Alan Fried 4 Junior National Freestyle titles.

So Sasso and Mattox at 149 and 157 then? That’s a heck of a lineup.

hoffman at 197? with singletary at heavy.

this is gonna be a sick lineup in a couple years as OSU makes another RUN!

The only crazy thing is all the other Big schools are rebuilding quite nicely plus i like what cornell and Vtech is doing!

ncaa is gonna be a blast as always these next few years as I call this group from Ohio this year, next year and last years classes being the best group our state has ever put together. Feel free to debate this comment as a whole I truly believe Ohio's strongest all around teams could be put together with those three years! Example Ohio Mafia's teams pretty much sums it up. Add in those that didnt wrestle for Ohio Maffia like a david carr, carson k, and plenty of kids up north. Could probably put together two complete national championship teams right there. Ohio is awesome! Thank you wrestlers! congrats to all you fargo studs!

Next year, I have to come back so I can beat this list and join Alan Fried.”

congrats to Decatur!! ... however article needs a slight bit of clarification --- Decatur can win 4 freestyle titles but Fried's 4 were ALL Junior national titles, not Cadets, its Fargo's most famous record (though Jrs werent in Fargo in Fried's day) ....also article doesnt say it however we are talking Freestyle only, others have won 3 if u include Greco, example JD Bergman, 1 Free, 2 Greco.
