Federal report points to human activity as prime cause of climate change

Quote:
A new federal report, which is awaiting White House approval, concludes that human activity is "primarily responsible" for a drastic rise in the average temperature in the United States in the last four decades.

The Climate Science Special Report was authored by scientists from 13 federal agencies -- including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA and the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy -- and several academic institutions.

As it should.

From Yappi's source...

"There are no alternative explanations, and no natural cycles are found in the observational record that can explain the observed changes in climate."

LOL...there's almost a dozen., unless they're using the "observational record" to describe only the past 100 years.

A good explanation of observed climate phenomena.

Just looking at the part you bolded completely takes it out of context. There are obviously cycles, but what they found is that none of them can account for the changes we are currently seeing.

Forget NASA, NOAA, Pentagon, etc, and every other civilized country in the world, including the majority of US citizens. It will remain a hoax till a handful of Republican politicians say it aint, then it wont.

The Earth could be on fire and there would still be dopes screaming that it is just a natural cycle.

Politicians scream what they get to paid to scream. Or is it the scientists?

Traditionally, and by nature, the most apolitical group left. Ironic aint it, whom those most cynical and distrusting of government choose to believe.

There are periods in the earth's history with 8x the levels of CO2 as we have today, with little/no change in climate. There are also periods where the opposite is true. Nothing is being taken out of context...the intent of the statement is clear. It's simply wrong.

I'm not disputing that the climate is changing, or that there may be a chance that humans are playing a part. That said, I've actually read the report...and it's essentially the same correlation=causation argument that's been the cornerstone of the movements "science" from the beginning.

The majority of the people, including scientists and politicians knew that the world was flat up to and after the point that Columbus fell off the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

There are actually people that STILL think the Earth is flat. That Bush ordered 9/11 and that the Republicans caused the recession. There's a sitting member of Congress that thought if we put more Marines on Okinawa it would tip over. What's your point?

That generally, people are ignorant, and science leads to greater understanding, quality of life, and survival as a species.

Science denial knows no political side these days it appears. Biology/Evolution. Climatology. Hell, the Earth being round...You're on the losing side if you are going to argue against any of these.

Wondering whether we're careening towards apocalyptic times that only "climate scientists" know the secret to stopping is definitely akin to questioning whether the earth is round.

There's a school of thought that says cows are contributing more greenhouse pollutants than mankind. Are you a vegetarian?

I don't know. Lots of people knew the earth was round, some had a pretty good idea exactly how big too. The big fear for sailors, including those with Columbus, was would you run out of food and water while lost on the ocean?

And for most people, what difference would it make if the earth was round or flat? It's kind of like arguing whether there are eight planets or nine. What difference does it make? None.

This I know for sure. The same people that believe in anthropogenic global warming believe that Marxism makes people's lives better, Trump colluded with the Russians to win his election, and Caitlyn Jenner is a woman.

This is based on methane being a more potent greenhouse gas. The theory however does not work.

Strawmaning is arguing feelings over empiricism.

Your side is the one who responds to arguments with "the science is settled, if you don't agree you're a denier."

Make a scientific argument. To what degree is human activity influencing climate change? What will the specific results be?
