Joey Votto has popped up 7 times since 2010. Votto pop-ups by year:
2010 - 0
2011 - 1
2012 - 1
2013 - 1
2014 - 1
2015 - 2
2016 - 0
2017 - 1
2018 - 0
With the same amount of PA, the average MLB player would have popped up 127 times.
that is impressive, I stated the I would leave Votto alone the rest of of the season. Does anyone know why Votto did not start last night?

Who decides how long a team will wait to play a game before the game gets started?

That game should of never been played last night. 3 hour delay to start the game and the game was still played is off and on rain..... That is too much to ask for your fans.

Why don't you list the rest of the details of the trade?

I don't know who makes decisions or policy in these situations MLB or the Club. I say anything over 90 min. a voucher for a future game should be offered. The club has already collected concession/parking income from the fan for the rain delay the voucher allows them to fill a future seat (that in the Reds case would likely be empty) and future concessions/parking.

Until the lineup cards are submitted, the home team has the say on if the game start time is delayed or postponed altogether. Once lineup cards are submitted, the crew chief of the umpire crew has the final say.

DuVall smacks a double in the 9th and avoids going below the Mendoza line.

They were going to try and get that game in as best they could. Looking at the forecast for the weekend it was going to rain all weekend. Really hampers the ability of doing a doubleheader (further hampered by the logistics of getting ballpark personnel available on short notice to work it). Pirates don't come back until last weekend of the year and I doubt they want to extend the season for two non-contenders. It sucks but I can't blame them.

Good for him. He's having a tough year, but I'm sure you'll join me in saying he's had 2 outstanding seasons in 2016 & 2017.......excellent acquisition for the Reds.

Thanks for posting about his double, troyboy.

Ouch. Today kinda took the luster off of Harvey's trade value.

Did you hear Riggleman's interview on the radio today? He said it wasn't likely that Harvey would be traded.

He said he had no indication Harvey would be traded. That being said, they've decided to go to a 6 man rotation through the trade deadline to get Homer back in the lineup. A six man rotation (one less in the bullpen) makes no sense if they aren't going to trade or demote someone. This isn't Riggleman's decision to go to the 6 man and he'll have no say in a trade.

Lance McCallister has long stated the policy on rainouts for baseball is silly and outdated. I have no idea why they waited 3 hours last night, with all the radar and other weather equipment available.
I'd say after an hour, 90 minutes tops, make a decision or postpone. Could have played 2 yesterday or today, and I"m sure the Pirates come back into town again this season.

ARRRGH. The 6-man rotation idea to accommodate Bailey may be the dumbest thing the Reds have done. And that is saying something.

Let's have 1/3 of our starts be wasted on guys who will not be here long term (Harvey and Bailey). Solid thinking.

Hey at least we now have a .001 % chance that Homer throws a no-hitter. Tune in for that. You can usually tune out by the 3rd batter of the first inning.
