McClearn7 is on a distinguished road
Troy D-3 District Rankings (Off-Season #2)

Iíve started moving wrestlers around from the weights that they wrestled last year. Some of the weight shifts are based off of where the wrestlers have been competing in the off-season, some is based off of people sending me line-ups. Some of the changes are based off of how the wrestlers have grown over the last few years. A lot of the movement is pure guesswork.
I welcome any insight into where wrestlers will or may be competing next season, because I know that Iím going to be way off on many wrestlers, especially this time of year.

I paired the freshmen with the school that they were listed at on the Yappi thread about middle school state placers. If there was more than one possible school listed, I took a guess.
If there are any freshmen listed at the wrong school, feel free to let me know. Also, if there are any other wrestlers who have transferred, decided not to wrestle next year, or graduated (but I mistakenly left them in the rankings), please let me know.

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.
I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

* = unsure about participation or availability

106-
1. Kellan Anderson- Covington (6th state)
2. Teagan Hendrix- Greeneview (SQ)
3. Olivia Shore- Miami E. (6th district)
4. Jarrett Hornish- Wayne Trace (7th middle school state)
5. Gavin Caprella- Lima C.C.
6. Matt Ellis- Legacy Christian
7. Jeremy Sturgeon- Bluffton
8. Kobe Epperly- Versailles

Anderson and Ellis have both wrestled 106 during the off-season.

113-
1. Wyatt Riddle- East Clinton (4th, 2nd state)
2. Logan Attisano- Legacy Christian Academy (4th middle school state)
3. Caleb Schroer- Troy Chr. (5th district)
4. Max Shore- Miami E.
5. Luke Stroud- Mechanicsburg
6. Gabe Sutton- Wayne Trace
7. Jordan Kennedy- Allen E.
8. Justin Ritchie- Carlisle

Schroer has wrestled at 120 and 126 in freestyle, though Iím guessing that he lands here and Turner wrestles at 120.

120-
1. Ethan Turner- Troy Chr. (1st, 3rd state)
2. Gavin Brown- Legacy Christian Academy (3rd middle school state 2016)
3. Chase Caprella- Lima C.C. (SQ)
4. Cael Vanderhorst- Covington (8th state)
5. Jacob Edwards- River Valley (5th district, 6th district 2017, 5th district 2016)
6. Hunter Long- Wayne Trace (6th middle school state)
7. Brian Chmielewski- Coldwater (6th district)
8. Trevor Huber- Versailles

Brown has been wrestling 120 during the freestyle season where he has posted wins over state placers Richie Delsanter and Caleb Edwards.

126-
1. Cameron Lacure- Legacy Christian Academy
2. Tyler Bauer- Wayne Trace (5th district, 6th district 2017)
3. Drake Carmean- Allen E. (SQ)
4. Trey Sander- Bethel-Tate (7th state)
5. Jacob Poling- Versailles (SQ)
6. Lane McCombs- Southeastern Local (5th district, 6th district 2017)
7. Mason Turner- Troy Chr.
8. Andrew Hutchinson- Tri-County North

Lacure and Sander both wrestled 126 at the freestyle state tournament.

132-
1. Kaleb Nickels- Miami East (SQ)
2. Ethin Hoffman- Arcanum (SQ)
3. Isaac Hernandez- Ottawa-Glandorf (6th district)
4. Jackson Hugentobler- Madeira (SQ 2017)
5. Jake Hurst- Mechanicsburg (5th middle school state)
6. Nicolas Alvarez- Legacy Christian Academy (5th middle school state)
7. Coleman Hauck- Triad
8. Kobe Boggs- Coldwater

2x state placer Hendricks has wrestled 138 during the freestyle season, so Iíd guess that he winds up either here at 132 or at 138.

138-
1. Deuce Brown- E. Clinton (3rd state)
2. Devan Hendricks- Greeneview (5th, 6th state)
3. Payton Lane- National Trail (SQ)
4. Cael Bey- Versailles (5th district 2017)
5. Johnny Schirmer- Blanchester
6. Evan Ellerbrock- Ottawa-Glandorf
7. Jay Goetz- Spencerville
8. Chase Trainer- Greenon

Iím not sure which school Brown is attending, though I heard that East Clinton was a possible landing spot.

Schirmer wrestled at 145 for the freestyle state tournament, so he may wind up at that weight.

145-
1. Jake Niffenegger- Legacy Christian Academy
2. Dylan Schenk- Milton-Union (SQ)
3. Colton Robins- Reading (5th district, 6th district 2017)
4. Travis Howard- Preble Shawnee (6th district)
5. Mike Whittington- Bethel-Tate
6. Will Hash III- River Valley (7th middle school state)
7. Isaac Bryant- Mechanicsburg
8. Kameron Cox- Greenon

I was told that Niffenegger and Hash will both likely be around this weight-class. Both are impact freshmen who could wind up at the state tournament by seasonís end.

152-
1. Joey Caprella- Lima C.C. (5th state)
2. Dillon Walker- Legacy Christian Academy (SQ)
3. Austin Awan- Troy Chr. (6th district)
4. Thomas Foster- Waynesville
5. Nathan Wagner- Versailles
6. Lane Mefford- Indian Lake
7. Frank Magyar- Mechanicsburg
8. Gage Huston- Blanchester

Walker and Awan have both wrestled at this weight-class during the off-season.

160-
1. Clayton Schirmer- Blanchester (SQ)
2. Kerington Martin- Covington (SQ)
3. Hayden Pummel- Indian Lake
4. Josh Fink- Coldwater (5th district)
5. John Cline- E. Clinton (6th district)
6. Dalton Metzger- Adena
7. Dylan Burns- Arcanum
8. Mark Wrasman- (Delphos) St. Johnís

Pummel wrestled at this weight-class during the freestyle season.

170-
1. Seth Henderson- Miami Valley (SQ)
2. Devin Oligee- (Middletown) Madison (6th district)
3. Deontaeí Davis- Cory-Rawson
4. Tyler Gigandet- Versailles
5. Eric Weber- River Valley
6. Duncan Cooper- Covington
7. Lucas Moore- Troy Chr.
8. Ramiro Torres- Blanchester

Henderson started last year at 170 before eventually cutting to 160, so he may eventually make his way down to the lower classification once again. Heíll look to become the schoolís first state placer since 2x NCAA All-American Matt Kolodzik won a state title in 2012.

182-
1. Danny Rosales- Ottawa-Glandorf (7th state)
2. Craig Montgomery- Troy Christian (SQ)
3. Matthew Welker- Miami E. (5th district 2017)
4. Quincy Brown- (Middletown) Madison (5th district)
5. Ethan Knapke- Lehman Cath.
6. Matthew Moore- Waynesville
7. Desmond Brown- Coldwater
8. Chase Martin- (Delphos) St John's

Montgomery has wrestled as high as 220 in the off-season, though he started last year at 195 before eventually cutting down to 170.

195-
1. Deandre Nasser- Bluffton (4th state)
2. Garrett Neth- Allen E. (SQ)
3. Levi Morrison- Greenon (SQ)
4. Major Stratton- W. Liberty-Salem (5th district)
5. Matt Schmersal- Ottawa-Glandorf (6th district)
6. Isaac Grilliot- Versailles
7. Justin Wieging- (Delphos) St. Johnís (6th district)
8. Dakota Sargeant- Columbus Grove

Iíll be interested to see how 195-285 shakes down once the season starts. Nasser will be a state title contender, though he may have to contend with returning champ Jump, if theyíre both at 195 again. We could see Boyle at 195 or 220, and Price and/or McCollister could be at 220 or heavyweight.

220-
1. Brenden Dalton- Miami East (SQ)
2. Dylan Sargeant- Columbus Grove (SQ)
3. Nick Baker- Troy Chr. (5th district)
4. Ty Stevenson- Preble Shawnee (6th district)
5. Gage Kerrigan- Covington (SQ)
6. Hayden McKee- Southeastern Local
7. Daron Hickey- Deer Park
8. Andrew Moore- Southeastern

I believe that Baker has wrestled heavyweight at least once during the freestyle season, so itís possible that he makes his way up to that weight-class.

285-
1. Jeff Meyer- Columbus Grove (SQ)
2. Chase Jordan- Greeneview (5th district)
3. Isaiah Lafontaine- Southeastern (6th district)
4. Brennan Davies- Allen E.
5. Jayden Heltsley- Arcanum
6. Bryce Abner- Preble Shawnee
7. Seth Topp- Riverside
8. Nolan Tobe- Coldwater

Meyerís development could be a significant plot in the state title hunt at heavyweight. Typically, it takes upper-weights longer to adjust to the high school atmosphere when they transition from middle school, due to the strength difference. Meyer was already a match away from placement at the state tournament as a freshmen, so even a little jump could land him in the state title discussion.

Team:
1. Legacy Christian Academy
2. Troy Christian
3. Miami East
4. Covington
5. Allen East
6. Versailles
7. Ottawa-Glandorf
8. East Clinton

Legacy Christianís influx of excellent freshmen has them positioned as potential district title favorites entering the season. If these rookies can develop quickly, Iíll be surprised to see anyone overtake the Knights for the district crown.

A special thanks to Boro Fan for all the insight into the weights of the wrestlers, Baumís Page and Jakeís Wrestling for all of the results that they provide, and to any of the other wrestling nerds that actually read these things.
