Someone needs to put in a like button available for use towards comments. Great opportunities don’t come along very often. Good luck to the Tagg boys this season.

Best of luck to the Taggs no matter what path they choose. Great kids and Great family! Most of us could only wish to be burdened with a decision like this.

Northern kids, oh no you didn't. It's on; cival war. I'm getting ready to supply the South with more troops, once I get my Canadian shipment of super soldier enhancement.

OK, this thread started out as "how pathetic SGP will be" this year. Not pathetic enough for anyone to challenge them in D2 for the state title. They won't beat Eds this year, and probably won't be a top 10 (national ranking) but likely cracks the fab 50.

Then the thread went to LaSalle and Brecksville as chalengers to Eds in D1, and finaly the Taggs and/or Decatur (I'm wishing them well regardless of their decisions).

I'll run with LaSalle a bit. I did a forecast (very early and not accurate at this point) on Eds and LaSalle and had Eds with about a 30 point lead. I just used Borofan's returners and plugged them in where they finished last year w/o seniors. A healthy Heard closes that gap by about 25 and Skinner could add up to another 25. Now we have a race. Eds rarely loses when they put a good team on the mat, and they'll be very good this year, possibly ranked as high as 2nd in the nation. But it's all about staying healthy and peak performance in March.

BTW, here's a short list of really good Eds teams that got beat in Columbus (doesn't happen often):
1994 WJ 143.5 SE 131
1996 WJ 149.5 SE 134
2010 WAD 172 SE 167.5

Other years that Eds did not win in Columbus were years when they failed to score 100 points - 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2014. By normal standards, these were all very good teams, just not state champs.

If Eds and LaSalle stay healthy, this could be an epic battle. Part of the equation will be who fills the holes in the lineups for these two teams, and how how much these "hole fillers" contribute in Columbus. Eds is always very deep, and LaSalle not so deep. But are the new Eds kids gonna score significant points in Columbus? It's a long way to March 2019, but this could be really fun.

I don't think all the transfers to LaSalle happened. Now I could be wrong. The D1 race SHOULD be a two teams race unless Elyria does get the 2 brothers to attend. The dual between Ed's and LaSalle should be a good one. I really don't think it means much for either in terms of a state title. I would assume both will see each other in the state dual finals for a title. Ed's "holes" are few and far between. The only point scorers were Rini and Howard. I think the same points will be scored at state at 32. 95? well that might be some point loss at that spot. However, I think you will see more points scored at other weights. Such as Hightower not placing. This is a really good and deep team. Should be a fun 2019! Long way off and things can happen as we all know.

I might be wrong but 2 transfers did happen and both of them will have an impact( Skinner & a good middle weight). Casey Wiles was outside the top15 in all rankings last year and Only Cincinnati knew what was coming to Columbus. Both Heards should improve, as should Bledsoe. Baker and Brown will have a opportunity to improve with the graduation depleted weights( hvy & 195). With good health to both squads, this year will be exciting. Ironman around the corner.

Yes those two did happen but many more were looking to move. As far as I know those were the only two. In terms of getting better, every team should be getting better. I hope.

Who was the 2nd transfer for LaSalle besides Skinner?

Back to Graham - not only do they not have the usual amount of wrestlers ranked nationally, but for the 1st time as long as i can remember, they did not have a junior high state champ coming in as a freshman this year. This may be the end of the dynasty.

Graham will be fine. They have a great coaching staff and tough room. You do not need to be a JH or GS State Champ to be a HS State Champ. I am pretty sure Graham knows how to train kids and to get them ready for the HS level. Graham is one of the few legacy programs left that has the formula right. Everyone thinks they can do it better, but then they find out it takes more than just having a few great kids. I would never bet against a Graham kid. They learn more about wrestling than just moves.
