The HOF was also counting on more money/kick backs from the city/county, which in itself, to me, hints at ineptitude. Canton/Stark is not the type of place that is going to be of much use to such a large and expensive project. The city barely has money for its roads.

I believe the project will eventually be completed in a scaled-down form, likely sans retirement home and water park. If I were the city, I would "encourage" the HOF to renovate the Canton Civic Center instead of building a whole new arena at the HOF site.

Thanks Crusader!

Wow - that sounds like a mess - I remember reading something also that some of the Enshrines were complaining about NFL putting money into the HOF when they wanted some healthcare benefits or something like that.... maybe that delayed some progress too?

In reference to anticipated completion of the Village, in 2070, I guess I might actually have a better chance to see a Browns Super Bowl Parade

Go Browns (always)!

Moreso than than public money, Stu Lichter was supposed to get $100 million from EB-5 visas. He completely underperformed on that end by getting round about ZERO, throwing the whole project into a tailspin. It's been a solid 2+ years since these titans of industry knew EB-5s were a dead-end and they still haven't gotten their crap together. See the attachment for reference.

Pettimore - noted!

Darn shame cause I was really looking forward to HOF Village - but I have to agree with you.... and when we really get down to it - CANTON really needs to use their money to make Canton safer

Here is another article on the HOF project

https://www.cantonrep.com/news/20190...-500k-purchase

Interesting last sentence

"A presentation about the status of the project, which had been scheduled for Canton City Council for later this month, has been canceled."

From that article the HOF had like 14.7 million dollars to buy property and continue to buy property none of which has been built on yet but they cannot build a locker room. The HOF has the money to build a locker room they just don't want to.

I believe CCS has already been given the 4 million. Question is what did they do with it.

This is incorrect; the money is in an escrow account. The Hall has not put the full amount of money in escrow the agreement calls for.

Does anyone know if the full amount of money owed to canton city schools is in this so called mysterious escrow account. And what bank is it in? Is this one of those deals where the HOF deposits one dollar each year for the next 4,000,000 years

You are right the HOF want the school building. I am not sure what lengths they might go to get it. Would they go to the state point out the failing school system and try to get the state to take the district over. Then take back any locker room that may get built for there own use. They are not handing over millions without some sort of a plan to get it back in the future.

Of course they want the whole area. The problem is they don't have any money to do it. They'd have to buy the land and probably agree to foot a significant portion of the bill for a new high school.

This isn't the HOF Festival concert. That is Imagine Dragons. But, this is just another example of what an utter failure this leadership at HOFV is. They had to have there $160 million stadium with their millions in lowering the field and one-of-a-kind stage, and underground green room, and tv views of the dome over the north stands so they could bring in more events. So far they've brought in Pit Bull in front of a smaller crowd than a Lake vs Green football game, and a cancelled Tim McGraw concert. If you can't sell tickets to Tim McGraw in this region, then this facility is DOA as a concert venue. Way to go, Dave Baker.

Also of note, the Rep doesn't say WHY the concert is cancelled. And since reporting lack of ticket sales would be a bad look for the HOFV, whom the Rep is a PR arm of, there's no mention. Way to go, Todd Porter.

They've lost their minds with those ticket prices.

And to think, with this ineptitude in leadership the people of Canton actually voted to increase their income taxes.

Cant get a road paved but we've got millions for a football monument in downtown.

30 bucks for a game that means very little to this area...and the last holiday weekend of the summer. The Stark County Fair will have more people that day.

They also had this Tim Mcgraw concert scheduled the same night as Blossom has Jason Aldean playing there.

Are you this stupid. The HOF is refunding money for tickets already sold. This concert is listed on the HOF website. It's was to be held in TBHOF stadium. It was to be held the week of the HOF events. But you're saying it's not a HOF event.

Donít think itís just the HoF that would buy that land. IRG has pretty deep pockets and that land would fit in pretty nice with their plan
