Hoover wins big (14+ points) and this is the beginning of the end for Demarco.

I guess as the head coach Demarco shoulders the responsibility, however, if this is the end of Demarco I hope there is a complete overhaul so we get rid of this defense we have went to since Miley left several years ago.

Need to get back to physical, stopping the run defense. 2 years ago we got by on talent for the most part but they still struggled at times. Without alot of talent, it really does not work..bring back the 5 man front and the aggressive D we used to have.

Improvement is what we should all be looking for...from the kids and the coaches. This years team was never going to set the high school football world on fire, but I know I sure as he!! Expect them to come out and compete.

350 from one guy last week should be the motivation....might be the worst ever run stopping and tackling exhibition by a Louisville defense ever.

Hoover has not won at Louisville since 2003 when they rolled 38-7 (and had won 4 straight in Louisville all by 14+ at that point). A couple close calls (2005 and 2013) and a embarrassment in 2011. Then again the road team hasn't won in this series since Louisville beat Hoover in 2008.

I feel this may be the year Hoover gets over that.

As for Brush being terrible they may be...and Hoover did what a good team is supposed to vs a bad team. If it had been close I'd be worried...it wasnt.
This is the difference between this team and the past 2 years. Hoover needing to come from behind to win both games vs taking care of business. Truly reminds me of 2012 when they took apart Stow like they should have as opposed to being run over by teams that a prototypical Hoover team SHOULD beat.

That Stow game is the first thing I thought of as well. After that game I knew it would be a good year...went to the playoffs and had McKinley on the ropes in week 11.

After an impressive first week I'm more convinced this team will win at least 7 and play somewhere week 11.

You and I have often been able to get a read on the team after week one. I remember one year people saying we were disrespecting Stow by saying Hoover would be down after they beat us. They never did beat a good Hoover team.

Granted our kids tackling was terrible, but it is the coaches responsibility to put them in a position to win. How can you allow the same play to be run against you for 354 yards and never make an adjustment. We have coaches in the box to point out blocking schemes and tendencies. Either the DC disregards them or they are just eating the free food. If we make no changes this week against a known running team, it may be time to get out the pitchforks and run this guy out of town.

Boys - I get that last year was a major bummer and with all the negativity swimming around NCH sports right now, you are hungry for some positive news. You may want to ease up on the optimism until after this week. This week will be a much better test of who the Vikes are this year.

Your absolutely correct about the coaches in the box...they have to see everything and convey what they see to the coaches on the field...that's why they have head sets. If I were the DC...after what I saw last week...my corners would have to be lock down studs this week b/c I'm putting you on an island and using everybody else to contain the run and short passing game...8-9 in the box using the same mentality that we used to when we ran the old defense. There are 2 guys on Hoovers team that are going to make 90% of the plays 16 and 26. Containing those 2 would be a good start.

After what took place last week anybody that coaches any position on that side of the ball should be willing to listen to anything. They can't even use the "if you think you can do better" response. Because yes I could.

No offense, but I think most of our little leopard coaches would make changes if they got run over like that.

Don't get too carried away...hopefully you are joking.

Checca and Benson are very capable defensive coaches...the issue is with Davis the D coordinator and his philosophy. He is the one making the call as to what d to run..

To himself I bet Checca is fuming inside over their defensive philosophy. I know Al and guarantee he would not stay in a 4-2-5...

Position coaches teach the technique at their respective position, the coordinator puts it all together, the kids need to execute, and the head coach needs to make sure everybody is doing their job.
Last week we failed on all fronts. Lb's were out of position, d-line wasn't controlling gaps or getting off blocks, DB's were caught looking in the backfield, nobody could tackle, and we made no adjustments.
This defensive scheme is very capable of being a run stopping defense if everyone does their job and the personnel fits. Problem I see is we fill the personnel spots in the rover and ss with kids more apt to cover the pass rather than stop the run and we don't make changes when the game determines that we should. 3rd and 3 we keep the same personnel out there that we do on 3rd and 15. Last week after they ran the same play 6 times in a row and got 10 yds a pop...I'm putting in 6 d-linemen, not just swapping out one kid for another at the same position.

Louisville Leopards at North Canton Hoover Vikings Freshman Football Video Highlights and Recap

Nice comeback Leps! #22 wow the awareness on that 4th-and-8!

Interesting no overtime though. I know there was in 2011 because we lost at Carrollton 26-20 in OT. Our last NBC loss at the Freshman level.

I am thinking Hoover 31 Louisville 20

Should be a fun game. Usually a good one over there (save 2011).

Technically ties are old school just asked the 3-3-3 1929 and 1937 Louisville Blue Raiders! JK, I get what you mean.

I think that we thought there'd be overtime!

Again when was this rule changed? How soon until Varsity just plays to a tie too?

An inept staff not knowing the rules. You convert a 4th and 8 by the skin of your teeth. Punch it in and get lucky with hardly any time left, with no OT played, and you kick? Yes an inept staff.

They don't play OT at any level below varsity football now, not even at the JV level. I think the rule changed a couple years ago.
Not sure if the Louisville coaches knew this. If not, then they should have.

Louisville clearly had a poor defensive performance in week 1.
Will they do what I suspect Fed teams will do by stacking the box to stop the Hoover tailback and forcing the Hoover QB and receivers to beat them?

I'm probably more curious to hear how the Hoover defense does against the Louisville offense. I'm expecting a Hoover win, but how they do against the Louisville O might provide better insight to Hoover's chances in the Fed than their performance against Brush last week.

Is this the tape delay TV game? Seems to be on every year.

2 things:
1. Thank god that nonsense about joining the federal league has died down (0-10 if we are in Fed)
2. That is about as embarrassing as it gets for a Leopard football team, running clock in 3rd qtr! Unacceptable
