Why don't you say something about Moeller football then? Just get a conversation started

Maybe you need to read the thread and see how many times I've started conversations on this thread. The only time people want to talk is when things are going bad. Typical Moeller fan/parent. Maybe Moejoe83 was right.

Unfortunately you're right that this forum is only busy when things are going bad. It has become a place for people to complain. I feel there's a lot of good things going on in the program right now. Didn't carp just get offered by Clemson last week?

Speaking of things that have gone bad...can we talk about what can get better?

Like, how poorly the defensive side of the ball has played the past few seasons?

This team needs to get some "nasty" back, anyone still close with the program know if/and/who plays with that "nasty?"

How have the kids taken to a "Hopefully" new and updated strength and conditioning program?

The past regime hit the weights hard too, but at times, it seemed to the detriment of speed.

I have really appreciated Doug's philosophy of having the guys play as many sports as they can.

Speaking of Carpenter, I'm just scratching my head on how Ohio State has been so slow to offer, anyone know if that's in the cards or have any idea where he's leaning?

Carp seems to have offers from almost every where, on twitter he seems excited about all of them. I know he has had a visit or two to OSU, I have no idea what he really is thinking but I think Michigan has a good of shot as anyone. Big time athletics and academics.

The biggest thing Doug is doing is changing the culture to a more modern one. Doug is trying to play chess while Roddy and Huxxell seemed more like checkers type dudes.

I don't believe that this new culture will make anyone less "nasty". Doug is all about being open minded to everything but anyone who has been around him coaching knows he can get down to brass tacks, very quickly. I don't think the boys will be "soft" this fall. If anything I think they will be a little better mentally and will be less likely to fold if things don't go their way.

I know I lost my mind on here last fall (only cuz i was p*ssed and wanted SOMETHING to change) but I am believer in this new coaching staff.

As far as football, we have talked about the line up, position coaches, potential schemes, culture changes, schedule, facilities, uniforms, recruiting and its May, there not even practicing in just helmets yet. Not sure what else there is to cover at this point?

Those uniforms do all suck and, if anything, not uniform. None of it matches and I hope they're all changed this fall to something more traditional looking and "uniform."

They have accepted a new partnership with Jordan for next years uni's. Michigan had them the last couple years.

Positive stuff:

Congrats to Baseball beating Elder this afternoon to advance to regional finals

And congrats to Track and Field for their best season in a while.

Not sure about “nasty” but they are hungry and pissed which is good. Doug has impacted this program immediately, but not everyone has bought in. If he can find a way to either turn around or cut out those who aren’t on board he will have the start to a good program.

I believe track and volleyball are the only spring sports that Moeller is still competing in.

On a more somber note heard that former coach Bill Straub passed on Monday. He was involved with the program for 25+ years. Condolences to his family.

Aw man...sad to hear that. I loved when that guy would stop by practice. I could listen to that guy tell stories for days.

Thoughts and Prayers

Agreed, I remember him being very involved in our summer pre season camps, cracking jokes and being out there with his shirt off (and that was just a little over 10 years ago).

Sad news indeed....this is the obituary that was sent in the Moeller email. It seemed like he was enjoying retirement until a few years ago....again sad news.

"William ďBillĒ Straub passed away peacefully at the Life Path Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida, on Monday, May 28, at the age of 78. Born in Newport, Kentucky, Bill attended Highlands High School in Ft. Thomas and was an All-NKAC quarterback during his junior and senior years. His 1957 team went undefeated and won the Kentucky State Championship. Bill went on to play football at both the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University and spent the majority of his life dedicated to the game. He coached at several Kentucky high schools, at Edinboro State College in Pennsylvania, and most successfully served for 25 years as a coach at Moeller High School in Cincinnati during its reign as a football dynasty in the 70ís and 80ís, winning seven State Championships and five National Championships. Bill also taught biology for many years at Boone County High School in Florence, Kentucky. After retirement, Bill moved to Sun City Center to fulfill his dream of living in a warm climate and playing golf, which he did until the onset of Alzheimerís in 2015 limited his ability to remain active. In 2016, Bill was inducted into the Highlands High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bill touched the lives of so many as a teammate, a teacher, a coach, and a friend. He is survived by his daughter, Sara. No memorial service is planned but a donation can be made in his honor to the Alzheimerís Association at alz.org."

Iíve heard some rumors of some studs at the Moeller youth football camps. A kid in 5th grade running a 4.5 40 yard dash. Just some rumors but great if true. And Caudill is doing some good coaching for future QBís

Mr BLUMKIN I'm not sure why you have such an immense love for Caudill's QB ability because he flat out is not a good player. In fact Caudill is probably the last person that should be teaching kids how to play QB.

It was just a rumor he heard though...from Moeller youth camp. Was Urban there? Did Saban request film?

Back to the upcoming season....it won't be too much longer. Any thoughts on the offense? With Majors still running the offense, do you think it will be similar to last year's? Along with the defense, hopefully Rosfeld is bringing some fresh ideas to the offensive side of the ball too. I know just about everyone is running the spread these days, but I would love to see some QB under center every now and then to change things up. I can't stand it when it's 4th and inches and the quarterback lines up five yards back to get the shotgun snap only to get hit for a negative play. Let's get the under center qb sneak back in the playbook! I I am excited to see this team play this year....go Big Moe!

From what I've seen watching workouts the team still appears to be running a spread style offense. Expect the QB to run a lot. McKenzie actually looks really good running the ball but the Caudill kid has some really good speed and I'd probably say he's faster than Mitch. It will be interesting to see how much speed is a factor in who will be lined up behind the center for the Crusaders this season.

If Caudill EVER plays QB at Moeller in a meaningful game we are in BIG trouble! Come on people he's not a player and the kids DO NOT respect him. Get off of it and move on! Mckenzie is going to be the starting QB and if Thompson is back he will compete for the job. Thompson was the starting QB in the Jr class before leaving the start of his soph year. Let's stop with the nonsense thinking Caudill is going to play! This is the problem with Moeller FB clueless parents/alumni.

Looks like Tony Acito has been added as the defensive line coach - good to see some more experience on the coaching staff.

Schedules are up for the Frosh and JV. Only 9 games each. Frosh dropped the GCL B games. Not sure if that's due to roster size or money (has to be roster size IMO because how much can it cost to run a Frosh football game).

I doubt money is a factor because I imagine Moeller wouldn't need to spend any money on home games other than paying people that are already school employees and they would likely make money off of tickets and concessions. For away games the only cost would be paying for the busses but that wouldn't cost too much since all the games are local.
