Stark County

I want this to be civilized & a solid discussion. Comment with you top 5 teams to watch, top 5 players to watch and your 5 biggest surprises

I will eventually comment with mine later on. I know we had the one post on here already with this discussion, HOWEVER, I want a well thought out answer to this question.

So ---

Who are your top 5 teams?

Top 5 players?

5 biggest surprises?

I am biased so besides a few players to watch for Massillon, will say Garrett Mckinley and Ashby Hoover. Massillon Mck Hoover Perry lead the pack, and Lake will be solid but still biggest surprise if they contend for FL title or even region which would be a great.

The biggest surprise obviously would be unseating Hoban but that's the region not Stark.

Players to watch for me...I’m gonna start with the QB position which there are some dudes coming back this year...Longwell (Massillon) Greiner (marlington)Ashby (Hoover)Jones (Louisville)mick(northwest)...I’m sure I’m missing some but might be the best group of returning QBs I’ve seen in a while, possibly ever

Lake will be very talented and big this year. I think they’ll be in the mix for a FL title, but I really think 2020 will be their year they end that drought.

Better buckle up rook - civilized and solid discussion don't make the grade on Stark County Banter...

Either bring the Passion or shut it down!

Let's see how this goes...

Pretty much this, switch 2 and three in my opinion and you nailed it.

1) Aiden Longwell
2) Jayden Ballard
3) Andrew Wilson Lamp
4) Luke Murphy
5) Robbie Page

Five biggest surprises.

1) Anthony Pedro comes up big on both sides of the ball, especially DB.

2) Eric Thurman fills the Adryk Ford void this year.

3) Adrian Scott a 6'3" 240 lb. 2 way lineman WILL be noticed this year.

4) Caiden Woullard

5) Magnus Haines burying kickoffs into the endzone.

Bonus

6) All of the young talent Massillon has waiting in the wings.

Those would be so-so surprises but you know there will be 2-3 to come out the woodwork on nobody's radar. That's what I love. Btw check your pm.

I have to add Keyes & Phifer at rb. (Beasley and Venson will shine in 2020). And some love to the hogs - Rankl, Jones, McElroy. Tobin and Campbell are 2 other DL returners who should be solid.

Really though all 5-6 teams will be very good. Stark is loaded this year. Will be a very entertaining season.

Perry has most all their lines back on both sides of the ball. OL/DL Vinny Sciury looks to have grown an inch, shed some baby fat and gained some muscle. Max Millin is also a very tough and talented lineman. The Panthers have a stable of running backs. Lemon is strong & fast, as is Middaugh, also they have several very talented sophomores to back up the RB’s QB should be Vinas. He is also a running threat.
I look for a race between Hoover, McKinley, Lake and Perry for the FLC. Don’t sleep on Jackson, who needs to fill some 2 year starters shoes, who were big contributors.
Massillon will be as good as their lines on both sides will take them. There’s no doubt they have great skill.

There’s even a younger one coming....lol.

On a similar note there were 5 Lloyd’s that played for Perry from the 60’s into 1980 and there were 4 Shimek’s that played in the 90’s into the early 2000’s.

Isn't that awesome Ed? I don't like getting old but... love seeing those family pipelines and remembering not just brothers but dads and uncles. Not sure about granddads but I'm getting there, lol.
