Sykotyk will become famous soon enough
'Made' can mean revenue or profit depending on context.

It seems the 270k is being described as profit rather than revenue. So if now their revenue is 280k and their expenses are 121k, they're far behind.

I guess that also questions how the hof game and weekend were for the school before and after the rebuild. And if this is partially from external revenue from a second high school (Timken) and college (Malone) factor into it.

That article on the finance of the HOF village was written by that unicorn breakfast cereal and M&M woman. I think she is branching out into waffle and chicken cereal. Who knows she might write a story on how to play football next.

Looking at the article in the Rep published April 2018, there is a lot of money being discussed on what the school should receive and what they pay for. Does anybody know what the school has received and paid out to the Hall of Fame since this article was written a year ago? There is rent, legal fees, band and football camps, relocation money to play at Central, lost ticket sales, and the football operation facility. See the two paragraphs below.....

"Starting in 2018, developers began paying the school district $285,000 annually as rent, according to terms of a 2015 cooperative agreement. That figure is supposed to compensate for the net loss the district sees for giving up operations of what is now Benson Stadium — a figure estimated at $268,800. The Village has exclusive rights to advertising, signage and concessions at Benson Stadium and the nearby youth fields. District Treasurer Jeff Gruber said the district has received its first quarterly rent payment for $71,250."

"Developers have tallied the school district owes $121,588 for use of Benson Stadium during nine games and one scrimmage in 2017, school district documents show. Invoices sent to the district included fees for security, housekeeping, fire prevention, EMS, administration, utilities and soft goods."

Trying to keep all these figures straight is actually a full time job. How much has it cost the school in actual money when or if these weren't paid and the school had to use taxpayer money to run the programs that these incomes were budgeted to pay for?

I think the locker room facility construction is going to start happening in June. I don't have a link or reference for you just an over heard conversation. Sort of like being in the right place at the right time standing next to the right people but only time will tell.

It is a net benefit to Canton (and Stark) as a whole. Maybe not as much as they promised with their pie and sky projections but ok.

If Mckinley HS wanted their own stadium to do with as they please they would not design, pay for, or have anything remotely close to as nice as Benson. Take the good with the bad I guess. I get the lockerroom frustration. Seems like low hanging fruit all things considered but idk the details.

The canton park will cost twice as much as planned and never get finished. No one will ever visit it except the homeless people that already live there. That's if they don't die when they fall in a pothole. Folks from Jackson, Louisville, Canal Fulton and Hartville would never be caught dead there. Too dangerous a neighborhood.

Have you been to any downtown events lately or ever? Things like First Friday's and the Canton Blues Fest pack them in! People come from all over and I've never seen anything to make me concerned about safety.

The Canton Blues Festival is the best event downtown Canton has! One of the few free Blues event in the country, runs on time, professional stage and sound system, great setup with the grass lot!

The early planning for the space involved the desire for a permanent stage/amphitheater primarily for this event. It's not cheap to rent that stage set-up.

And I'm surprised they've been able to keep it mostly free (there is VIP seating for $$) for this many years.

What I have been told is that they spend around $35,000 for this two day event. They get the McKinley Grand to donate rooms for the 6:30 and 8:30 acts, the people who help sponsor it donate a huge amount of the money, then they have a committee that works for free and supply a huge amount of free labor, the sound guys do a lot of the Chamber events and do not charge a lot to do this one. The Chamber does have this event organized.

High school football is not integral to Canton's identity per all the folks in Jackson Township who actually run the city now. So you should quit your belly-aching and be thankful for the fancy stadium surrounded by dirt and gravel.

The good news is, most of the people who run the district agree and are now just waiting for THEIR payout from the fine folks at the Hall for selling out the kids in the city. They're running the Adrian Allison playbook. The Rep doesn't care, the city doesn't care, the alumni doesn't care.

The first Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic will be played in Canton over Labor Day weekend.

The game, which will pit Alabama A&M against Morehouse College, will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Tom Benson Stadium at the Pro Football Hall of Fame campus. It will be the season opener for both schools.

I figure about 2000 people will show up for it. Note Tom Benson stadium does not hold 23,000 people like Fawcett did. They never finished the east end zones or ever will. But thank goodness they will never need that capacity. They could play this game at Central Catholic stadium with a lot of room to spare. I wonder if the HOF will charge the colleges to use the locker room like they do for Mckinley.

The hotel they built up on 77 by Faith Family church and the Holiday Inn at Belden are the only 2 hotels other than the McKinley Grand the HOF will use. The NFL mandates they be 4 star or higher. Thatís why they remodeled the Holiday Inn.

The current NFL players contract says the players will stay in only a 5 star hotel. Thats one of the reasons they quit building the hotel on the HOF site. The owners, coaches and league officials were never going to stay in a hotel that was beneath the players contract. Also all concert acts will only stay in a 5 star hotel. And just about anyone that is important will only stay in a 5 star hotel.

Have you stayed in it recently? Looks like nothing has been done to it since about 2001. It’s starting to border on gross.
