It's been postulated on this forum that is a reason for the NCL never reaching out to CVCA. I, along with many others believe that if the NCL is going to have a non Catholic Christian School in the league they would rather have one that would not be as competitive as CVCA would be. CVCA is also a school choice option that MANY Catholic families has chosen over the other area private schools in the last 10 years.

Which is just plain dumb to even have that argument, if a school appears to be a quality fit regarding affiliation for the NCL, then welcome aboard. The white division since Chanel closed has had turnover at least every other year and has been one cluster *bleep*. Id be all in favor of having CVCA as a member of the NCL

Maybe Padua would agree to move down to the white division.

There were talks last year regarding NDCL dropping down to balance out the divisions

Looks like Padua is leaving at the end of the year and in fact going independent. Interesting that one of the rumored reasons was because of the domination of Hoban in football and how that program is run yet the Padua volleyball teams is basically the same thing in their sport.

That would be one pathetically soft reason to leave. Padua hasn't exactly been whipping up on the rest of the Blue Division, either. Scheduling is so hard for a private independent, I'll never get why you'd give up the 5 built-in games. I really hope they aren't letting football drive this decision, there's so many other sports to consider.

Most other sports don't have the scheduling/competitive issues that football does. Football is the only sport in Ohio where scheduling drives playoff viability, as the other sports are "all-in".

With Garfield Heights joining the LEL in 2020, it works out nicely for Padua to independently schedule the Parma schools and others from the GLC for football because they all need one independent game sometime between weeks 1-10. Local rivals to increase gate money and less travel.

The only problem with this is that Lakewood is joining the GLC in 2020.

I actually was counting Lakewood as the tenth GLC school giving each school 9 conference games and 1 OOC. Am I missing a school?

True that would give every team 9 conference games but they would play them Week 2 through 10. No team would have open date after Week 1.

Got it. I had to take a look at the SWC schedules this year to see how a team 10-school league schedule would unfold.

9 is an uneven number which means 4 league matchups involving 8 teams. That means one team would have to play out of conference every week of the year.

And it's kind of crazy that this league looks to be collapsing after certain Bennie fans said the gcc would die. This league might die first now

The Great Lakes Conference will have 10 teams starting next year.
(Bay, Buckeye, Elyria Catholic, Fairview, Holy Name, Normandy, Lakewood, Parma, Rocky River and Valley Forge.)

Which means every team will have a league game from Week 2 to 10.
