SVSM has no height so Pete Nance at 6'10 will give them trouble. Not sure who else Revere has. Can anyone shed some light?

Pete Nance will be the best player on the court. StV will likely have the next 5 best players. Revere has one other 6'5"+ kid (Drenth). He can be hot and cold in games, just depends on the situation. Revere has a smallish point guard that is fairly quick and a very good defensive player. Revere has 3-4 other players that get minutes.

If StV shoots like they did against Tallmadge, it will be another easy win (shooting 67% on 3s). Nance will get his share of blocks and rebounds. The biggest issue in the game will be how Revere handles the pressure. If they can avoid the turnovers (very difficult to do), Revere will make a game of it. StV gives up easy transition baskets when their press is broken. That is the one way that I can see Revere winning this game.

I said in another thread that a Bryce Hargrove type player is a key component for a team that has any serious chance of beating SVSM. You need just that brute strength that a player like that can provide. Pete Nance appears to be exactly that, although I very much doubt that Revere has enough else out there surrounding Nance, that is sufficient to put them over the top, especially if SVSM's shots are falling, like against Tallmadge.

Revere has the kind of height that is needed to beat StV. I'm just not sure they will be experienced enough nor quick enough. StV has been extremely impressive in their tournament run.

I don't know enough about Revere' s guards to know if they can handle the Irish pressure. I will say they haven't faced the type of pressure the Irish will bring. If the guards can handle it, then the Nance factor will give the Irish fits. But if they have to use Nance to break the press, then IMO Revere will risk running out of gas in the second half.

I'm sure they will use Nance to break the press. He's brought the ball up to court quite a bit this year in the games that I saw. I agree that it will be tough to keep him fresh.

I think Revere keeps it respectable until late in the game, SVSM pulls away, taking a 15+ point victory. Something like a 67-48 kind of victory.

Every time I feel Revere is going to get crushed by somebody they surprised me. This is the same team that beat Shaker a few weeks at Shaker. I'm still shaking my head on that one and Senior night at that. I don't know how they do it. One thing schools like SVSM are good at are taking away your #1 option and making somebody else beat you. While the Irish don't have any 6'10 kids they do have athletes that are quick and that can elevate. I expect Dru to put two athletes on Nance and that will doom Revere. I as well see the Irish rolling - but I also thought Shaker would roll them so what do I know.

The young Irish Go 10-12 deep loaded with athletes. Northwestern commit 6-10 Pete Nance is a outstanding player and a AAU teammate with STVM PG Scott Walter. Dru Joyce OHSAA Tournament record since 2010 to Present 49-5. Joyce’s overall post season record is 88-12 with 4 State Titles.

Hoping Revere can pull it off but homegrown schools just don't get the number of athletes StV gets. Joyce's record is impressive but he is no better than most of the coaches around he just has different talent than the other coaches every year to work with.

I tend to agree with most of your points, but they also beat WH twice in this late season stretch as well as SH. Also beat Copley twice who is still playing. Nance needs the complimentary guys to make St V pay for the doubles, as Pete will pass to the open man. I'm an SLA guy, so I'm gonna be optimistic and say the Minutemen keep it within 10-12 points. Dru just has too much accumulated talent to lose this game.

Word is out that LeBron and Larry Nance, Jr have a friendly wager on this game.

John Telich reports no trash talking just disappoinment neither is able to attend the game.

In my opinion that would be a huge mistake. Nance is one of the finest passing big men I've ever seen at the high school level.

The question is does Revere have enough horses to beat SVSM if Nance is slowed down. You have to think Nance won't be shut down completely because he is pretty talented. If the Irish could just slow him down and keep him below his average - can anybody else step up ?

Revere obviously has some talent around Nance otherwise they wouldn't have won as many games as they did this year. Everyone says "the formula to beat Revere is to stop Nance and make other players beat you" yet most teams don't seem to be able to execute it. Revere has another good post player along with Nance, a good shooter, point guard is inconsistent but when he is on he is very good, and 2 pretty solid guys off the bench that can score. That being said I think St. V wins but closer than the experts think.

Revere has finally settled down but it's too late. They really struggled in the half court offense the first quarter. Maybe got 4-5 shots off and looked bad on all of them.

I've seen a few of their games this year. Nance was always a safety valve. You could throw it anywhere near him and he would catch it. StV is fast enough to steal those weak passes.
