Speaking of truck driving. Those dudes can make some coin if they get in eith the oil companies down here. All else fails go get your CDL and move to Texas. The cattle truck drivers get paid pretty well too.

You take a car or truck with a driver off the road and replace it with a driverless car or truck. What new job is created?

The same people that do that now?

I mean, pretty big difference between needing an IQ in the 99.95 percentile range and whatever point you intended to make, but okay.

Either way, glad you realized how dumb the 150 statement was. Carry on.

Safe to say, a lot of Yappi members, have absolutely no foresight. Its all doom and gloom, no jobs will be created.

Or you could actually focus on the point instead of deflecting by harping on a figure thst was obviously not meant to be accurate.

These same people who talk about no new job creation because of technology also probably thought computers would end destroy the American workforce and that the IT sector wouldn't be an industry. But yeah no new jobs will be created, we'll take your word for it.

I would say the lack of foresight is on those who think automation is a good thing for society. This isn't inventing machines that make work less dangerous or that free time up for work elsewhere. These are complete human replacements in industries that already exist or will exist. New jobs will come sure but AI advancement will outpace it until the only way a human can compete with computers is to have cyborg implants.

Yep. Been going on for centuries. Each time the Luddites insist that "this time is different." They're not exactly fast learners.

Still a net loss, which is the real issue.

Bored ?

You usually can come up with something good enough on your own, rather than jump in with a d-bag troll job

It's likely that wealth will simply need to be redistributed

There’s guys driving trucks in Iraq making 6 Figures. Chris Brown, was an All Star 3B for the Giants in the 80s, and he made more doing that than all his years playing baseball.

Yeah I think I'm in this camp now also. Go back far enough and you'll find poeple talking about how technology will take up all the jobs. Society will be fine.

2&3. The skills-gap jobs are more in the $75-125K range after a few years experience. There's no flood of obsolete labor on the horizon.

Has never happened, even in labor markets disrupted far more than driverless vehicles will cause.

I know all of the drivers that haul cattle for my boss all have revenue over 150k for just his business. They also do a lot more business. The key they say is to never have empty miles.

The oil field truck drivers make an absurd amount
