Good luck to the Polar Bears and Lady Bulldogs. Mikesell v. Bell should be worth the price of admission.

Jackson's Taylor Mikesell has 1873 career points
McKinley's Kierstan Bell has 1837 career points

Great effort by both tonight!

What I don't get is the speculation that the two teams could play again in the Canton Regional because the OHSAA website has the Medina District winner (McKinley is in it) going to the Norwalk regional. If that is accurate, the two teams wouldn't meet until the state semi-finals. Am I missing something?

Congrats to McK and glad to see it was a good game. Jackson won't be getting that first FLC in 40 years but the most important games in the post-season are yet to come. Not sure at what point they could rematch but hopefully they do.

Originally the Medina District was assigned to the Canton Regional by the Northeast District Board but it was changed and now the Valley Forge District
Goes to Canton

JAF, people are going on what was said earlier in the year... clearly people haven't gotten the news that the state switched it up... my guess is to 'spread the wealth' talent wise... Toledo ND will be the only real 'power' in that region without the Medina winner staying in the norwalk regional. Just my take though

MCGal, so is McKinley in the Norwalk Region? The NEO District has them in the Canton Region and the newspaper articles keep mentioning the possibility of a McKinley and Jackson rematch in the Regional final.

LOL, it's so hard to follow from a distance!

My understanding is that the OHSAA one is right and the NEO one is just behind... not surprising lol

Well, that would be good for the Federal League...makes it possible for two Fed teams to advance to state.

With teams having only one or two conference games remaining, McKinley has pretty much so locked up the Federal League title.

McKinley 17-1, 9-1
Jackson 14-4, 8-3
GlenOak 11-7, 7-3
Green 11-6, 5-6
Hoover 8-11, 4-5
Lake 5-11, 2-8
Perry 2-14, 0-10

There are several non-conference games this week that could help some teams better position themselves for tournament seeds as the draw in next Sunday.

Jackson: Medina (w), Hoover
McKinley: Lake
Green: Manchester (w), Roosevelt (w)
GlenOak: Massillon (w), Perry
Hoover: Jackson
Lake: Dover, Tallmadge (w), McKinley
Perry: Norton (w), GlenOak

Taylor Mikesell scored 37 points in Jackson's 61-48 win over Medina and moves up to #2 on the Stark County career points leader board with 1,959 points. McKinley's Kierstan Bell moved up to #5 on the scoring list last week with 1,865 points.

McKinley's Ameryst Alston, the only Stark County female player to score 2,000 points, finished her career with 2,032 (2012), replacing East Canton's Linda Krider who had been the top scorer for 31 years with 1,931 points. Mikesell and Bell are on pace to become #1 and #2 on the list and join Alston in the 2,000 career point club.

Best of luck to both as they start to gear up for the tournament.

McKinley and Jackson top seeds in each... they wouldn't see each other again unless both get to Columbus.

So Hoover will get to end the career of Mikesell...a rival taking her out the way it should be.

Yeah I read that she had been injured and played a little of that game.
Hopefully she will be able to play more against Jackson..should be a good game.

Hoover played Jackson pretty close in both of their games this year....12 and 5 point losses. Will the return or Roshak make a difference? It's possible, but I think they'll come up short again. It certainly makes the game more interesting!

I think both of the Canton District semi-final games will be close.

It's very hard to beat a good team three times in a row, especially your archrival. That said, I agree, I think this Jackson team means business and gets the job done. Good luck to both!

For those who are interested, whbcsports.com will stream both the Jackson vs. Hoover and GlenOak vs. Massillon games Monday night.

There was speculation a few days ago that they would also cover the McKinley vs. Wooster game, but that's looking pretty iffy at this point.
