No shame in losing to the Eagles at home. You have to like Solon's chances of getting to the regional, but D1 is too tough to guarantee any team to win district. If you are going field vs one team, I will take the field.
Maybe the Eagles will be a guarantee next season. They should be even better.

Go Eagles!
Poor free throw shooting has been an issue for years.

I feel like that's always a tough one to pick on a team for. To play basketball is an aerobic sport, blood going, heart racing and in a big, playoff type game, all of that is working. Then you get fouled and need to slow it all down with all those factors in place. I just don't know how you mimic that in practice. I feel like it is a maturity thing for most. Obviously there are some who are just naturals but most are not.

St. Edward - St. Ignatius for District championship tonight at CSU.

Buffalo-Toledo MAC Championship game down street at Quicken Loans Arena at same time, so parking/restaurants likely a cluster.

Big win and to go 3-0 over Ignatius is always big. Two more games and then Columbus for the Eagles, they will be big tests.

Lorain beat Strongsville by 2 points. Anyone have any background on their team this year. I know they had a really good team last year or the year before that eventually lost to the eagles deep in the tournament.

I saw them play once, lost by 12 or 15 to a good Cleveland Central Catholic team. The score was better than how the game went for the Titans. They had one player go off for like 27 but the collective team effort was not there. They have talent, just don't think the depth is there against St. Ed's.

Lorain is pretty much going 6 deep the past few weeks, only 2 of which can score consistently. The rest of the players on the bench are freshman that won't play unless emergency. Had a few players quit or drop off during the season. Nobody here expected them to do much this year, but the district was down so here they are.

Really like the Eagles chances against Lorain. Easier district for Ed's but a tougher regional. I don't see a Cleveland team beating them. St. John's is the one team that can keep them from getting to the final four.

Agreed. St John’s is worrisome as they have had their way with the Eagles lately. Anybody know how I can listen to the game?

Ed's was my state champ pick. Very surprised Lorain kept it close - let alone won. Wow.

Maybe Eds’ kids were a bit too concerned with St. John’s. Great win for the Titans

Eagles looked like an aau team,no set pieces, no plays for big guys, trying to out run Lorain , Gotta give Lorain credit for hitting timely threes, and and end of the game foul shots, also half the eagles volunteer coaches were on their phone instead of being engaged in the game

That sounds like an honest, unbiased assessment of an Eric Flannery coached team.

No one told Lorain they were supposed to lay down and die. Credit the Titans for erasing several deficits throughout the game and playing well under pressure. It seemed the moment was a little to much for the young Eagles at times.

Ultimately, we just went ice cold from the floor for most of the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. I'm not just talking 3's and 15 footers, they were missing layups. And I know I harp on the free throws, but my lord, they were atrocious from the line. It's really inexcusable to have a team with this many quality guards shoot so poorly from the charity stripe. We had an opportunity to ice the game in regulation on a potential three point play, but after the missed FT Lorain's Devon Grant hit a big time 3 to tie the game and force OT. And it was all Lorain (really all Devon Grant) in OT. Kid put the team on his back and was perfect from the line down the stretch to prevent the Eagles from making it a one possession game.

Great point EP01. Ed's had the Rocky effect going except they were Apollo Creed. Lorain would take their best punch and keep coming back. I would agree with your assessment of the poor shooting as well. Lorain was not more talented than St. Ed's but played a better game and came up big in the moments they needed to. Credit to them completely.

As for St. Ed's well, it is sad to see a team with state championship potential lose in the tournament. Perhaps they were looking ahead to the St. John's rematch, it wouldn't be the first time something like that happened this season. Central Catholic almost burned them because they were looking ahead to Solon. They had a very complete team and didn't make shots when they needed to. I hope they learn from it and put together another great season for next year.

This group definitely has the goods to make a run the next few years. Looking forward to it.
