OHSAA Umpire Classes

Hello everyone,

As I'm sure you have read, the number of officials in all sports is declining significantly nationwide. These numbers are especially prevalent in the sports of baseball and fastpitch softball.

If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a certified official in either or both of these sports (or any other sport), we are able to lead you in the right direction. You will need to create an account on the myOHSAA website and register to take the class.

There are several officials that peruse these forums that would be more than happy to lead you in the right direction when it comes to finding a class and/or answer any questions that you have. Please feel free to post any questions on this thread or message me for more details!

Please think about becoming a certified official and staying close to the sport(s) you love!

I work evenings and nights but I would love to get back into umpiring baseball games. Are the classes on the weekends or are they in the evenings.

It depends on who the instructor is. Assuming you are in SW, I will ask around and see what I can find.

I have wanted to do this too, but I work M-F until 4:30pm. With games that start at 4:30 or 5:00, I wouldn't be able to get there on time.

There are also games on the weekends plus games in the evening when summer starts (which is earlier and earlier each year apparently)
