But if they can't correctly seed the "top" 4 teams with respect to on the field playoff performance why should we trust them to have gotten the top 8 or even top 12 teams correct?

And of course there is no perfect system and even at 12 teams there may be a #15 seed that would have won the whole thing if given a chance. But what you do get with an 8 or 12 playoff team structure versus the current 4 team field is a more accurate selection of the top teams & playoff participants and eventual champion.

Sorry you have no sense of humor.
Polls no good for voting for a national champion.
Need to have the BCS and get the Ďbestí two teams in one of the bowls.
Sorry, too much controversy. We need to have a four team playoff to make sure we get it right.
Now we are in a position to possibly crown a national champion that didnít even win their division.
Good thing that cleared it up and there is no more controversy.

Congrats to Georgia and Alabama.

Last year there was a possibility that a team could win the title that didnít win their conference, but then they went and got boat raced 31-0. LMAO

And I thought it was wrong that tOSU got in last year.
If you want any chance of a ďconcensusĒ champion there needs to be a better job of picking the participants.
Regarding expanding the playoff. At what point will players skip games? If they need to win three for the title? Will some players opt to skip a first or second round and then come play in the NC game?
I was fine with voting after the bowl games to decide an NC, I was fine with the BCS, and iím fine with the mini playoff.
The only change I would make (under the current format) is in the selection. You donít win your conference you donít get invited. I really donít care whether someone likes or dislikes how a team got or didnít get to the championship. Bottom line they did.
Why is a league championship unimportant, but an NC is?
How is ďproving it on the fieldĒ for an NC more important than proving it an entire season and winning a league championship?

Bama holds them to another field goal, huge. Should be 13-0 if not for the pick on the opening drive.

Georgia not putting in the end zone early could be there undoing.

Well can we all agree that Oklahoma has a better offense then Alabama - a lot better?

I will say this about the playoff games no one can claim that the offenses tonight are being held in check by great physical SEC defensive play. Not after what Oklahoma did to one of those tough SEC defenses.

Overall pretty boring game so far IMO.

I think this is already all but over. 'Bama made a few major untimely defensive errors and struggled to get off the field on third down in the first half. Georgia has dominated the time of possession while 'Bama has struggled to sustain much of anything offensively.

Two scores seems like a huge deficit when your defense can't get off the field early in the game and you likely have to rely on Jalen Hurts' arm to climb back into it in the second half. Barring major errors it seems like Georgia is going to roll to victory. With the TOP differential I have to wonder if Georgia's going to grind 'Bama down after the half and score 2-3 more times. This may end up being an equally iconic SEC win/loss game such as Tebow's blowout 'Bama loss in 2009.

UGA still has a true freshmen at QB. He's made a couple throws that could have hurt badly, including the one on that drive before half. All it takes is one turnover for Bama and they'll be back in it. I'm not sure why they got away from going wide like they did on the first drive. Michel has been the difference maker. He's converted two or three 3rd and longs that have helped extend Georgia drives and turn them from field position flips to points.

Yea but he seems to be a lot better then Bama's QB. The guy held up in a shoot out last week against Oklahoma and so far he's looked very good tonight. Long term implications are that if Georgia holds on to win this they will supplant Bama as the SEC power team over the next couple of years.

My goodness when officials miss such an obvious face mask on the ball carrier in the center of the field you wonder if maybe the fix is in.

The NCAA has a real problem with the quality of officiating we have seen this bowl season. First, these men should be ashamed of themselves performing their job so poorly. Second, the quality of officiating we have seen is unacceptable.

Also, Georgia was not offsides on the blocked punt. Officials are trying to help Bama stay in the game...

This is a much scarier 'Bama offense.

Hurts may as well transfer if he likes starting.

Nick Saban does something Buckeye fans wished Urban would have done.

Who would have thought Saban would be more open to change and do it in the biggest game of the year. Let's see if it works
