And Harbaugh and Michigan would have to blow it against an SEC team. An SEC East team, for gawd sake.

Well 7-1 isn’t bad. Pretty big collapse by Michigan blowing a 19-3 lead and having 5 turnovers in one half.

All I know is that Wisconsin is about to get some serious competition in the Big Ten West with Frost going to Nebraska. It just got real for the Badgers; I'll be the Huskers are rolling again in no more than two seasons from now.

Unfortunately for the BIG with so many good teams in the league it will be very difficult for any team to go undefeated in league play next year. So if a BIG team wants a chance at the CFP they better win all their non-league games. As Alabama has shown it is better to be in a weak league and schedule non-league patsies to make the CFP.

And if you're going to schedule games against other Power 5 conference teams, only schedule them at neutral sites. No home-and-homes any more.

Tell all other Power 5 schools, "You want to play us? You'll have to do it at a 'neutral site' located in my part of the country."

No one gets a chance to play Alabama, unless they're willing to do it in Atlanta or Dallas.

The boat rower has done a great job recruiting at Minnesota in his first full shot at signing a class up there. He will build that program to compete in the West.

Yep. I'm increasingly becoming of the belief that Ohio State shouldn't play anyone unwilling to come to Indianapolis or Cleveland for a one game deal. If nobody takes the offer, just play MAC schools and service academies.

Give him two more years and they'll be a legit threat to win the west. Fleck is elite at the recruiting game.

I think any Big Ten school should say, "Yeah, we'll play you, if you're willing to come to Indy or Detroit, since they both are domed & no one can complain about weather."

You would probably have to exclude Cleveland/Cincinnati/Pittsburgh/etc for any weather complaints.

You probably would have to exclude those venues, although the weather is generally pretty predictable in late August/early September across the Midwest.

Never got the infatuation with Harbaugh. I guess he's had some success at both levels. Hard to say how much of that was him and how much was the team he inherited. None have had success with the teams he put together for the person who followed him.

After DickRod and Hoke-yDoke, the prospect of signing Harbaugh as a successful scUM QB alum and former NFL coach was exciting and easily hyped. Hell, the wolverweasels have sucked azz for so long that the Buckeye fans were just as excited at the thought of reviving the rivalry....

He's been a disappointment.

I was a bit shocked today when I heard an LA writer with no Buckeye ties, Bill Plaschke, emphatically state that OSU was just a flat out better team than 'Bama this year. He had attended both Bowl games and stated it unequivocally.

It would be nice if Harbaugh finally got his chit together in 2018. Based off early recruiting results for him and Franklin, I figured that the Big 10 East would be loaded starting this coming season.

Bowl season may have been the start of an uptick nationally. I expect the West to improve dramatically over the next 2-3 years with Frost and Fleck respectively recruiting Nebraska and Minnesota back to legitimacy. The conference has finally started making the financial investment in quality coaches over the last 4-5 years and it's starting to reflect in the product on the field.

But...if he had ties emotional or otherwise to USC he may be a bit jaded in his point of view that the team that just kicked USC around is better than Bama who lost to a team that couldn't even beat lowly UCF in a game.

I thought Bama looked pretty darn strong in their game and am not sure OSU could keep up with either of the two teams left. I continue to see Wisconsin as the team that truly got messed over, as they went undefeated in the regular season and only lost in a conference championship game (narrowly ) which was more than Bama can say for itself. The ironic thing is giving Bama all this time to heal up and play one less game than the other teams played may be just enough to give the third place SEC team a national title.

Yes
Yes
and Yes.

The SEC is still the top conference although the ACC has closed the gap. Top to bottom, it's better, and it puts the most players in the NFL. Didn't pay that close of attention, but looking back, I'd say one conclusion you could draw is that the Big Ten is better than the Pac 12. The other thing is the Big ten was probably favored in most if not all of those games.
