The offensive playcalling often left me scratching my head. I get that he wasn't the OC, but the buch stops with the HC.

You'd know better than me but how was he regarded as an assistant all those years going back to Boarman? Some great teams. A 2 year stint as hc aint a whole lot to go on. Most do not have immediate success as they do year by years 3-4. Though you did make the playoffs and win the region once.

Picking the right coach is hard but seems like a pretty good resume overall to me.

The "racist" BOE is poised to hire an African American Super and coach. Some people should think before you post.

He was very well thought of, and rightfully so, as a defensive assistant. IMO, there seemed to be a little dissension on the staff in his 2 years as HC. And it really wasn't so much anyone's fault as it was part of the natural evolution of things when someone gets promoted from within and basically keeps the staff from before. I think his hands were tied a little when it came to his staff. And rightfully so! That staff had a lot of success. But there was the feeling STVM wanted him to be Boarman 2.0 instead of Wattley 1.0. I think if he stayed he would have turned over the staff; which could have caused its own issues. So maybe he made the right choice. For McKinley fans, IMO the earliest sign of whether he is ready to step into his own will be his choices for assistants. If he keeps the previous staff as a whole, then you will be in for a lot of the same. If however he puts together a strong staff, both from inside and outside of the current group, then you have the right man.

Reardon's defenses stunk and I felt they weren't properly conditioned. If Wattley just improves the defense McKinley will be a title contender.

Raymo, haven't you been reading? McK's season is already a failure because the coach isn't there yet and nobody cares about football at McK.

Whom would you advise to keep the whole defensive staff needs to be replaced.

In what way? Is it factually incorrect? Here's the opening statements of the link:

McKinley High School appears to have found its next football coach.

The timeline on when Canton City Schools will take action and make a hire remains unclear.

Marcus Wattley emerged as the front-runner with the search committee after two rounds of interviews, sources confirmed to The Canton Repository on Monday afternoon. He was expected to be recommended for the job. The search committee has no more interviews scheduled.

Or is this just another misguided overreach on your part? Your zeal to try to prove me wrong is getting in the way of your own veracity.

Seems the Massiloons are hoping against any success in the city of Canton or its public school.

The story in the link in the first post has been changed. It was re-written from the original story. The Repository admitted that.

You're WAY out there if you can't see there's been a snafu in making and announcing this hire.

Once again, Egret with the correct answer. Egret has actually succeeded in the real world, thus understanding that productive results sometimes take time and adjustments are often necessary from the initial plan to the end results.

Its evident that Wattley has been the coach for a while although on an informal basis. Today's announcement made it official. I wish him well. He has 3 years to beat Massillon before they'll be after his scalp. Hopefully, he is here to coach and not to just take up a seat.

Ah, yes. Rampant nepotism to start the Wattley era? Thatíll be great.
I too look forward to seeing the staff he puts together.

Epic fail. So eager to want me to be wrong that you look foolish - again. Wattley's the coach. You're the sham.
