2019 Warren JFK Eagles

Now that the divisions are out and summer workouts are in full swing it's as good a time as any to look at this years team.

The Eagles only lose 5 seniors(4 of which are going on to play college ball) off of last years regional finalists. They were surprisingly good at the end of the season, that I believe could of gone even further with a couple of players who were out injured. But that is the nature of the game and the good news is those players are back healthy this season.

Offensively they have a lot of weapons returning. They should be able to score. Returning players are:
QB Marantis- Sr.- has a big arm
RB/SB Edmondson-Sr.- quick, shifty, runs hard
RB/WR/QB Hollobaugh-Jr.- fantastic athlete, can do it all
RB/WR Likens-Jr.- lightening fast, really came on 2nd half of season
WR Fordeley-Jr. 6'4" with good hands and speed
WR Williamson- Sr.- game changer who was lost for season week 3
OT- Hill-Sr.- 6'3" 285ish getting some college looks
OG- Mintus--Sr.- played well as a first year starter

There are some hole to fill on the line that some younger/inexperienced kids are going be relied upon. As long as they develop as expected the offense should produce plenty of points.

Defensively Kennedy was stout last season, especially the LBs and DBs. They played a lot of freshman and sophomores last season and it should pay off this year bigtime.

Likens and Hollobaugh will be 3rd year starters this season with Hollobaugh leading the LBs and Likens playing both CB and S. Fordeley will join in at Safety, Williamson will be back at CB. Edmondson plays both Safety and OLB. Also they have:
LB Keirnan-Soph-played great as a freshman last season
CB-Desalvo-Soph- got thrown into the fire last year and got better every week
CB-Shrumm-Soph- identical to Desalvo
DE-Turner-Sr.- quietly had a solid year

Same as the offense there are a few places to plug along the line and at linebacker but the defense might be better than the offense. Most importantly is these kids believe they can be good. No one gave them a chance last season and after the first 5-6 games they could of quit. This year they could be one of the more dangerous teams in D7. Should be a fun year!

Not yet. There could be something in the works but a 9 game schedule is a distinct possibility at this point.

Ashtabula St John open week 5

I saw that too. Not sure what they have coming back this year. They were pretty decent last year but I'm not sure if that was an aberration or not.

I saw that both and St. John and Cleveland Heights Lutheran East are open week 5. Hopefully they can get a 10th game on the schedule.

The Lockett brothers from Minnesota playing football for St. John after transferring to SPIRE for bball means they will win some football games again next season.

Terry is the 11th best rated WR in the country and little brother Tyree will be a Sophomore & may be better according to some.

St Johns is equal to Southington. Good game to play non starters. That’s about it.

You forgot that they won 7 games last year which means some nice computer point value. JFK probably has a better shot at getting Lutheran East to play...if anyone answers the phone.

Lutheran East would be a good pickup, they typically win a decent amount of games against bad competition. I don’t see St Johns playing JFK. Trimble is also on the list, be a bit of a hike but they were in the D7 title game last year

I believe St. John has lost their quarterback (star wrestler) to Geneva.

Could meet Trimble halfway. Trimble just needs a one year deal since they have a 2020 week 5 game with Fort Frye. Trimble should win their D6 region next year

Mogadore and Shadyside did that this year. Both had open 2 week. They will play at New Philadelphia. Good game for both as they have met in the past in playoffs.

Just for the sake of discussion, I noticed that Marion Local, winner of ten State Titles, has dropped to DVIi.

There will always be a MAC school in DVII, whether it be Minster, ML, Fort Recovery etc. They all have won and will always be an obstacle. Not for nothing though, posters on the MAC thread have said this is the weakest Flyer yeam in some time. They are still the favorite in the division though most likely.

Yeah, I'd consider a team like JFK, that has a fair amount of good talent returning to have the edge on Marion Local at this stage. Hopefully the Flyers can surprise a lot of us this year. We travel to Bishop Watterson week 2, which might give a good gauge where things are.
