'Walking Dead' Spinoff Could Be Prequel: Report

Hopefully the spinoff won't focus on New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago or Washington DC.

Quote:
AMC is planning a Walking Dead spinoff for 2015, and early buzz suggests this companion series will be a prequel to the original's zombie apocalypse storyline.

According to TV Line, the rumored plot will focus on the events leading to the zombie epidemic, along with early efforts to contain its devastating spread. Though AMC representatives declined to comment on the buzz, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman recently told IGN that the series will be set in "a really different location with completely different people."

"We are going to see an entirely different corner of the Walking Dead," Kirkman said. "It definitely won’t be set in Georgia, I can at least say that. It’s important to us that this show exists on its own.

This sounds great and is one situation where a “prequel” is actually a good idea. Hopefully they’ll concentrate on a place other then Atlanta/Georgia. If they do it right and it’s a big hit they could eventually mesh the two timelines and have the two series intersect!

I would like to see it be the "smart" people who are able to access technology and keep everyone safe while the rest of the world sinks into uncivilized lawlessness.

It could be something along the lines of the community built in "Logan's Run".

Of course it is. Another formula television show. Next we'll have "The Walking Dead: New York" soon to be followed by "The Walking Dead: Miami".
